    I'm guessing few teams were willing to offer up big money on multi year deals with his injury history (and now PED suspension). This way he gets a chance to prove to the team he can be healthy most (or all) of the season (or however much he gets to play after finishing the suspension) and the team doesn't have to risk much beyond this year.
