Woj and Bontemps talked about this quite a bit on his pod. They said a bunch of teams like him but were wary about the asking price. They're allegedly unimpressed with his play in Houston so far so they don't really want to give up too much. Hopefully we can stir up a bidding war to bump that up a bit.
Basically Miami thinks they can get him for free so their offer is going to be low low low. Everyone else knows he wants Miami so their offer is going to be low low low. How did Stone not know this man wanted Miami so bad?
Unless he can string together a couple more games like the last one then it can’t be much. A 2nd round pick in 2024 maybe.
If you are team trading for Dipo then all you are doing is jumping the line in order to pay him and he may balk at it. I hope I am wrong, but I don't see more than a 1st (probably mid to late pick) and expirings. Miami is interesting but how likely is it that Riley hasn't made a lowkey offer in order to skip giving up assets?
He probably did but the LTS was too enticing for the big boy up top. With Ariza and Iggy in tow for maybe just this season though I can see Miami giving at least something decent for him so they can push right now. Just Precious and a 2nd or hopefully a 1st is more than enough for me.
By 3 1st's do you mean $3? We might get a 1st from a team who will be almost last pick in the 1st round. Vic's contract wont read mid 1st round.
It's funny to see the pessimistic responses from the same people who claimed Tucker would only net us a crappy SRP.
Something I want everyone to keep in mind when evaluating what happens with Victor. I wanted the 76ers deal. PJ Tucker was likely included in that deal. So basically you add what we got for Tucker, what we get for Victor and what we got for Harden and compare it to Simmons, Thybulle and 2 FRP
I am not sure what a deal looks like but I get the feeling that the Knicks are ultimately going to be the team to pull the trigger on Dipo. Worst case scenario is probably Knox and the Detroit SRP they own. Best case is something like Obi Toppin and the worst of the Dallas/NYK first.
We potentially got 7FRPs for Harden already, plus the opportunity to open up a max FA slot PLUS the ability to tank better without a middling star player like Simmons joining the team. PLUS the playing time to invest in developing a player like KPJ. PLUS the complete and unexpected bonus of a player like KPJ because he ragequit when the Nets players (from the Harden trade) landed in Cleveland. I'd say we beat Simmons, Thybulle and 2 FRPs quite comfortably already. Sure, we could have flipped Simmons for possible another 2 FRPs - but then again, maybe not? I imagine they looked into all those opportunities during the offer process, and didn't find anyone willing to give up the assets to get Simmons as part of the trade.
After Tuckers trade I don’t think the rockets want another pick this draft. 4 rookies is a bit much especially if you are adding KPJ to the mix
