So we get rid of the angry old black man that sulks at home after quitting, scoring 0 points on most nights, and move up 7-9 spots in to the first round of one of the deeper drafts in many years? There are some good players in the late first round. This is better than I was expecting. And DJ Wilson might find a role off the bench here.
Love the trade. Think Wilson is a good fit. Very quick feet and active. Moves Patton down the bench. Mixed views on the trading of picks. Would always assume a late first is better than a early second. But with this owner the financial ramifications always have to be considered. Below is a link to last year's draft. Some very good players at 22-30. Of course picks 21&22 are big CF favorites. But at the top of the second you got guys like Maledon and Tillman. So with proper scouting either a low first or top second could provide a serviceable player. Or be an additional trade asset. https://www.nba.com/news/2020-nba-draft-results-picks-1-60
No he wasn’t... if the 2023 draft is the double draft as Bima suggested then this is not “for nothing”. Watch we may flip Augustine this deadline and we get a FRP for a SRP.
@BimaThug What do you think the odds are for DJ Augustine to be moved before the deadline ? Seems he's a prime candidate to get moved to a contender that has a need at the PG spot .... They couldn't aggregate his salary but I don't think that matters a whole lot.
I might be wrong but I believe worst case scenario is we get Miami's pick in a swap but will not lose a first round pick. So this will give us 2 picks.
I was thinking the same thing. I can see a trade to the clippers. I think they are essentially doing what okc did in picking up picks and players but then flipping the players for picks.
I think they might but they are not stupid. Rockets had to trade pj or he was gonna sit out rest of the year and then wall for nothing.
I am shocked that the same people who were surprised this team sucks are also disappointed in this trade return. I literally thought we'd just have to buy out Tucker for nothing and you guys are mad because they "only" got to move up as many as 10 spots in the coming draft and then they upgraded the 2022 pick from protected to an unprotected pick in 2023 when we should have the deepest draft in decades. And I honestly won't be shocked if they're able to trade Augustine for a second rounder by next year too. WHAT IN THE WORLD DID YOU GUYS EXPECT FOR A HALF A SEASON RENTAL OF ONE OF THE OLDEST GUYS IN THE NBA? I'm tickled pink over here.
The 2022 first round pick from MIL was unprotected too. There’s no upgrade. Literally just got pushed back a year.
For everyone not understanding the gravity of this trade...... Besides the other POSITIVES we effectively could’ve traded (in this DEEP DRAFT) Isaiah Canaan (pick 34) FOR Clint Capela (pick 25) What is not to like?
I think he is probably going to get traded but if he doesn't he is prob also a good mentor for kpj. Also traded a longhorn for a longhorn, I can dig it.
