When trading absolute garbage like PJ Tucker away, there's almost no way you can lose if you can find a team stupid enough to give anything up for them.
Evidence? Seriously, give me some of the packages that teams were throwing out there for PJ Tucker at the beginning of the season.
We are also sending a FRP out to get that FRP. We aren't gaining any extra picks in this deal. We swapped firsts, and then turned our very early second into a very late first. So we just moved up a couple spots.
This sounds great. Until you realize it’s just a 7 spot difference. And we just made Milwaukee better, so that FRP could very well be 27-28.
Like with everything else around here. Negative because that is their only gear with this team. It's screaming LOSE LOSE LOSE but then complaining OUR PLAYERS STINK It's screaming TRADE TUCKER FOR A 2ND but after the Rockets get significantly more IF IT WAS EARLIER IT WAS A FIRST
This is entirely possible, but I think this trade requires a bit of patience to see how it plays out.
Like this deal. Tucker was frustrating to watch with the corner 3 airballs and being severely undersized. On a team with decent talent those deficiencies can be covered up, and he will probably help them with his defense and BB IQ. Wilson, if he can just grab rebounds at 6' 10" and be a little stronger than Patton, I am happy. Augustin, I prefer him over Wall. Does this mean there is something in works for Wall, doubt it but one can dream.
The 2023 draft pick is really intriguing. If Milwaukee flames out again, don't you think a Giannis trade is on the table? AND you get the possibility of a double draft? Also, remember that teams really value 1st round picks - having some in the war chest after being so depleted will help us be buyers as well.
Augustine isn’t a bad contract... next year is expiring and he can be flipped... from memory he is a solid 3point shooter.. so you never know what RuhFelle can do with that...
Pick 2 23 *Houston David Duke 6-5 205 PG Providence Jr. 24 Milwaukee Greg Brown 6-9 205 SF/PF Texas Fr. 25 *LA Clippers Quentin Grimes 6-5 205 SG Houston Jr. 26 Brooklyn Cameron Thomas 6-4 210 PG LSU Fr. 27 *LA Lakers Allen Flanigan 6-6 215 SG/SF Auburn So. Also DJ gets EG's minutes if he's next. It takes 8 to play!
2023 is an important year. It's rumored to be the double draft where High School Seniors are allowed to enter into the NBA. There is a reason why the Rockets wanted this year. It's also a year where they DON'T have a Brooklyn pick but rather a swap. 2022, they had the Brooklyn pick. There is significant value to doing this. All in all, I would equate their return as of now as = to A salary to use to flip, A young undervalued player to take a look at and 3 SRP.
this is the key to the deal. Completely unprotected pick in a year with a double draft and a very real possibility of a horrible team. Remember where the rockets were two years ago and where they are now ... you don’t think Milwaukee could go the same way? Much more likely to happen in 2023 than 2022. This could become as good as that fabled Minny pick some people want so badly.
Tucker wasn't about **** this year he can kick rocks and I'm not wishing him any luck anywhere else he plays. Keep collecting shoes playboy!
He’s a minimum salary player making $7 million a year. Yes, he’s a Milwaukee salary dump they moved a few spots back in the draft for, and the Rockets gave them Tucker as sweetener. And this is coming from someone who prefers moving up over more second round draft picks. Tucker was traded for nothing.
