This article indicates to me that the Warriors are very interested in Oladipo. This is all gamesmanship, and I think the deal would look something like Wiggins for Dipo but the question is what are the Warriors willing to part with in order to save 65M over the next two years and put them in a position to sign real FA's before Steph's prime is over. Right now, they have zero free agent flexibility and will only be acquiring rookies, most likely in positions they already have very good players (Steph, Klay, Wiseman), who won't see much court time and will need a season or two to develop. If I'm speculating, GSW is willing to trade their own first rounder, but not the Minnesota one. Will be interesting to see if they change their tune as we get closer to the deadline.

Lol. That route has a very questionable record of success.

Only if that Minnesota pick comes along. @treyk3 and I would be going on a road trip to deliver Oladipo on a silver platter. Whatever needs to be done.

Can they offer Wiseman instead of the Minny pick?

That article specifically said that pick nor Wiseman would be on the table.

Oubre, Looney and their 2027 FRP unprotected is cool with me.

    anything else?

    They can **** off.

The article was also written by a Warriors' reporter and reeked of desperation.

I should read articles before commenting. :D I usually do it, but trying to meet a deadline today (still have to get my CF fix though).

If Wiggins is part of the deal then that Minny pick or Wiseman would 100% be required.

If it was only expirings (Oubre) or lower contracts (Looney) the 2027 pick would 100% be a fine addition. Who knows who the Warriors will be that far down the line.

But 1 of those 3 assets HAS to be in the Deal and if Wiggins is included it has to be the top 2.

The Golden State route for Oladipo makes sense if Oladipo will re-sign there for, say, about $25,000,000.

Unless the trade is for Oubre. But I'd be more willing to gamble on draft picks. Or Wiseman (even if re-routed to another team for draft compensation).

I can see the sticking points (Wiseman will be very good, that Minnie pick will be higher than Snoop Dogg), but Steph is still a monster, and he's being wasted. Up to them.

    PREACH, @treyk3!

Would you trade Christian Wood for Oubre, Wiseman and that Minny FRP? That to me would be the ultimate sell high move.

Nice analysis, but I don't think GSW gives a whiff about FA with Steph/Klay/Draymond hogging the entire cap. Oladipo has to be a super intriguing target for them this year. They wouldn't be true contenders, but Oladipo and Tucker would make them undeniably scary in a playoff series. Maybe we can entice them with our later 1st Round Picks.

Tucker/Oladipo/Houston 1st (wherever it lands) or the Portland 1st in a perfect world.

    for

    Wiggins/Minnesota 1st

This would allows us to get rid of the coinflip this year for the simple fact that we'd simply get Minny's pick next year if we lost it. GSW gets the risk/reward of our pick, and worst case scenario they get two 1sts in the early 20s.

Take out our first and I would. Taking on that contract should cost GS.

Can we even deal our own 1st this year If we wanted to?

What If we kept the Portland 1st and shot them over our 1st, that could be anywhere from 1-20ish?

I would include a first. Just not our first or any of Brooklyn’s.

Not sure. All of these swaps and protections are hard to follow.

If I was to keep a pick though, I might take that Minnesota pick over ours, for the simple fact that it won't be lost for nothing. Conveys unprotected to 2022 I believe. Tough call. Hinges on how you feel about the top 4 guys this year.

I don't think the Warriors will be making any moves to improve the team this year. They aren't a championship team this season and the FO knows it. Steph is 33 with 2, maybe 3 years left in his prime. Klay will be coming back next season, and Wiseman will have a season under his belt. If I'm GSW, that's my core. Oubre is not getting re-signed, and even without him, they have 164M of committed salary for next season. If they are going to have any chance of bringing in real free agents and being a player next year, they need to shed spend and sign free agents who can complement that core. I'm sure if they could they'd get rid of Draymond too.

Dipo (and probably Exum in this scenario) would not be traded for as long-term pieces. They'd be traded for as expiring contracts who they'd let walk after the season is over.
