Wait a minute. What are we going to do with the D&D forum? :p

I was kidding about Styx of course, but the Roboto song is pretty awesome in a stupid kind of way.

We're taking requests, B-Bob, and it sounds like you're on the right track.

I don't know about that one allan. Dale Gribble might disagree.

No offense, but you are talking out of your ass here.

Coldplay being compared to Radiohead is the same as REM being compared to the Smashing Pumpkins.

Um, just because 2 bands are from the same country doesn't mean they are the same exact band.

If people would really listen to the albums of both of these bands, they would find that comparing the two is so stupid.

Radiohead's album "The Bends" may be the one album of theirs that sounds the closest to anything that Coldplay did but that album has all kinds of electric guitar on it. Coldplay has much more acoustic stuff on their albums. OK Computer, Kid A, Amnesiac, and Hail to the Thief are albums that sound nothing like Coldplay mainly because there are electronic parts to them. Last I checked, Coldplay has yet to incorporate electronic parts to their songs.

And I am not even going to comment on some of the bands listed like Smashing Pumpkins, Sublime, and the Eagles. It boggles my mind that bands like that would be mentioned when bands like Nickelback, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Godsmack, etc should have been mentioned WAYYYYYYYY beforehand.

Well then, keeley, I think you do get my drift then:

Close Debate & Discussion as we know it. In its place, create a new Forum where "Mr. Roboto" is the only topic of discourse.

Please? I'll hit the tip jar again.

Wow most of you only name the bands who were good enough to be very popular. I mean Coldplay and Guns n' Roses in this thread well that is reason enough to close this now!!!

How about 99% of the POP***t that gets played in the Radio or on MTV all the time that sucks billion times more than whatever metal band or rock band you mention we at least must agree on this I beg you!!

    Thank you.

When I am old, alone and expiring, I will remember this day and a thin smile will cross my cracked, unhealth-insured lips as I exhale a last breath... "Domo!"

"Don't go?" the underpaid nurse will say, laughing as she leaves the room. "Whatever."

And just like that, in the blink of an eye, B-Bob's dream of creating a new forum is gone.

Manny knows. It's like England isn't allowed to send more than one band over here. Hey, Travis is from England, they are like low carb Radiohead.

My take is that the first post in the thread is one of the most refined, well reasoned posts on CC.net in a long time. Its like modern art or something. DHB: very well done.

In my opinion, each band has strived for something profound, been acclaimed and popular for pulling it off, and in the final analysis, not only failed, but been pretty hilarious in their nosedive toward oblivion. I actually don't know DMB enough to be sure, but if DHB put then into this good of a post, the criticism must have legs. I could see it. I could totally see it.

Great take on the Eagles. Their work suggests that they are the most humorless, slef-absorbed, milquetoast men in the history of the universe. Nothing throws me into fits of laughter quicker that one or all of the Eagles trying to be sincere. "Lyin' Eyes" has always struck me as the most unintentionally funny song of all time.

Douchebag is a funny word, too. Great post.

    Cheers DHB!

It has nothing to do with where they are from. I like Radiohead and don't like Coldplay. Its that simple.

Godsmack does not belong with those other bands.

My take is that this may be the funniest post ever on this BBS. The funniest one I can remember anyway.

Take a look at this Best Selling Albums of All-Time chart Based on Record Industry Association of America statistics as reported
    in Entertainment Weekly and Billboard
and tell me who has the #1 spot with the Best Selling Album of All-Time.

    http://www.neosoul.com/riaa/

The Eagles certainly have faded into oblivion, haven't they?
