Keep the appointment it’s fine, I think they opened it up to 50+ anyway. No one is checking anything, anyone can get the vaccine now if you really want it. At this point the more ppl who get it the better and appointments are available everywhere.
I was able to get an appointment at Delmar yesterday. I was surprised how empty it was when i arrived, night and day difference than when I drove my mom to the Sugar Land hub a few weeks ago. I guess I got lucky on the timing, there was no wait whatsoever. I too got a little creative on sign up, but I wanted the thing and I feel I've waited long enough to where the elderly and chronics have been taken care of by now. I know other than arm soreness, side effects after the first dose are rare, but I've been pretty damned fatigued and achy all over today, just totally wiped.
Dr. Fauci said let’s not make the same mistakes Europe is making. They are facing a lethal 3rd wave. Wow
I have to say it looks like Texas is really taking care of business as far as getting the folks that are most vulnerable vaccinated asap. My family member with Stage 4 cancer lives in Georgia, and they just opened up eligibility to people with high risk health conditions, today.
My parents have an appointment this week. Our plan is to go to the vaccination center and ask what kind and if is AstraZeneca to outright refuse it. We have waited for so long we can wait a couple more months for one that is safe.
They've opened it up to 50 or older now so you're good. I signed up on the Memorial Herman Southeast site under that category. I'm also on waiting lists for Harris County and Houston. Hopefully soon I will get my first shot.
Scheduled my second shot on friday so i'm gonna prep my body with vitamin C and Zinc for the rest of the week. Might take some baby aspirin too.
Anyone need appointments still? Seeing the following locations on CVS right now - Humble - Old Spanish trail - Pasadena - Channelview if you need help just holler!
How has their pace been? We were stuck in the 5-hour queue with Austin Public Health last night trying to sign up some family members and it was a nightmare. As a snarky response to APH on Twitter said, "Imagine my 89 year old mom figuring all of this out lol"
I got first dose. Didn't feel the shot and at the time the guy kept talking and talking to me and I convinced myself he forgot to put the needle in, but the next day my arm was sore.
I honestly can't tell if the AstraZeneca side effects are that serious or just being overhyped by the media, but if they want to wait for the Sputnik vaccine that one is excellent. https://www.theguardian.com/austral...d-clots-australias-chief-medical-officer-says No evidence AstraZeneca vaccine causes blood clots, Australia's chief medical officer says https://medicalxpress.com/news/2021-03-russia-sputnik-production-key-eu.html Russia says Sputnik V production deals reached in key EU states
I just filled out a form about two weeks ago and got an AthenaHealth account created for me (allows me to schedule vaccines) -- got my first vaccine scheduled and taken a few days ago, second one in April. Don't do APH, I tried one month ago and I still didn't get approved to try to book an appointment. Even Wilco was faster than APH. APH is awesome for scheduling fast COVID tests but that's about it.
