Point flies over your head. And a large portion of our air power is directed at defense of the homeland which every country has a sovereign right to. Don't confuse lust for war with the rights of women to defend our nation. If you think anyone in this thread is eager for more war overseas, you are gravely mistaken. You can create a new thread about America's aggression overseas but you'd be preaching to the choir. And military personnel don't chose where they go. They aren't policy makers.
Completely agree and good post. This isn't about the uses of the US military and having more women in it won't change how it's used. This is about can women serve in all roles in the military.
I have to disagree with this one point. American troops die at much lower rates now than they did in Vietnam, died at slightly lower rates in Vietnam than they did in Korea, died at much lower rates in Korea than they did in WWII, etc. American military technology has grown increasingly far ahead of enemies they are engaging with. Now with drone pilots, you have people fighting a war in the middle east from a trailer in Nevada and they are in no particularly increased danger as compared to the average American. Were the US to fight a war against a nation that was on a more similar technological plane, the danger would increase again, but that has not been the case. To illustrate the point, last year (per icasualties.org) there were 9 US troops killed in Afghanistan.
