Oh, Mr Trader and Space Ghost. Vermont had several lockdowns and "and bankrupted their state and their people while punishing their citizens by denying them their liberties." Meanwhile North Dakota did the opposite. And they had virtually the opposite virus results. Since beginning of pandemic: Vermont - 2,707 cases/100k North Dakota - 13,254 cases/100k Plain and simple. No cutoff islands here either.
North Dakota also only has 10.7 people per square mile. It takes a lot of negligence to spread the virus so much in a state so sparsely populated.
Some of you are missing the real issue. The mask mandates themselves probably didn't have as much impact as we give them credit for. However, the bigger issue was political leaders in some states were openly campaigning against mask mandates (and by extension campaigning against the need for universal mask use as a means to limit the spread). In North Dakota, every Republican was campaigning that mask mandates violated freedom AND those same leaders never bothered to raise the medical value of mask use. On the other side of the coin, British Columbia didn't introduce a comprehensive mask mandate until November 2020 (well into the second wave of infections). But because their government had stressed and educated the public on the medical value of mask wearing, they were getting strong compliance without having to pass a mandate until things got really bad in November. Next door here in Minnesota, our mask mandate is largely unenforced. For all intents and purposes, its a mandate in name only. But the government here is vocal and clear about the value of masks and that has a far bigger impact on compliance rather than the legal mandate itself. But in Texas, there has not been a consistent and strong message about the medical value of masks so repealing the mandate there only emboldens a public that was already cynical about masks thanks to misinformation fed by political leaders in Texas.
Those thousands of selfish reckless spring breakers will take back more than vacation memories to their home states.
You conveniently choose to use numbers as you choose, kind of like your hero Trump. 10 of the most densely populated cities in the US top 25 are in California. None are in Florida. That's right, none! Florida only has 2 in the top 50, down at #37 and #48, and California has 14 of the most densely populated cities in the US. If you can't understand how that makes a huge difference then you and @Space Ghost choose to twist important facts in your lockdown vs no lockdown theory. Your logic is tainted orange.
None of these kids care about the D&D, no matter how much people pretend to think they know things. Not about "Political Party" about "Party Party"
More like "Not about protecting others and stopping the spread." Political Party should be irrelevant.
I dont understand your point. Wear a mask. Stay 6' apart. Stay away from big crowds and crowded rooms. Keep your social group small and make ground rules. Why is it so difficult to understand to stay away from public transit? Its a very crowded room, mask or no mask. These states dont get a pass on stupidity because they dont have an infrastructure built for it. If I didn't want to get COVID, I would not get on mass/public transit. I went to Disney Springs peak pandemic. Disney was very very strict, despite FL being 100% open and state prohibited counties from mandates. 30k people. I felt safe because everyone was following protocol. The chance of getting COVID in a well ventilated outdoor area with face covers is exceptionally low. Spring Breakers are getting sick because they are packed together, no masks, drunk and screaming or spending time in the bars. I know. Its complicated.
They are irrelevant. But don't tell that to the people who post in this section, you'll ruin their hobby. @Os Trigonum
Brother, I thought they called it 'Downtown Disney'. Last time I was there, I ate at Morimoto Asia. Great place. 99
What part of this didn't you understand about comparing Cali to Florida & Lockdown vs no lockdown? 10 of the most densely populated cities in the US top 25 are in California. None are in Florida. That's right, none! Florida only has 2 in the top 50, down at #37 and #48, and California has 14 of the most densely populated cities in the US. My point is that is @Trader_Jorge seems to act like the numbers alone make a valid argument that lockdowns don't work, when comparing to a state with far less densely populated cities.
