It wouldn't derail the tank this year but it makes things complicated down the road when he's up for an extension. I don't think the Rockets are wanting to trade for Gordon unless they see him as an important piece, long term. If that's the case then Tilman will have to cough up serious money for Gordon's extension as he's set to be a FA next summer. Like...do we want to pay Option 1 money to a guy that's clearly a 3rd option on a contending team? We're already doing that with Wall.

I like Gordon’s fit next to Wood. A good defensive player with a corner 3 and some playmaking is great next to an elite finisher.

my main concern is the cost. If it’s just whatever assets we can get for Oladipo and Tucker in a 3 team deal that nets us Gordon, I’m on board. But once you start throwing in picks, I get nervous.

If we could trade for him and work out a reasonable extension, I’d be much more in favor of a deal.

Gordon isn’t bad. He is young, athletic, nice playmaker passer and has a solid three ball. This would give KPJ two solid pick and roll and pop options with Wood and Gordon

Adding AG would potentially put us on a different path, a path away from keeping our top 4 pick and getting high draft picks the next two years. That's someone you target if you believed in WOW and/or wanted to retool quickly.

Imagine giving up going for a top 4 pick in this loaded draft for AARON GORDON. LOL.

Imagine then having to pay him $20-$25M after his contract is up, when he’s never made an all-star team and shoots 32% from 3 and 69% on FTs.

    John Wall
The Houston Rockets’ five-time All-Star is likely to have his left knee scoped at some point this season, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Wall suffered a knee contusion in practice last week. He’s expected to return to play soon, sources said, but addressing his knee down the road is expected.

It’s a knee Wall has had surgery on in the past.

    Aaron Gordon
The seven-year veteran is open to a change of scenery with the Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets and Detroit Pistons inquiring about trading for the versatile high-flyer, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

A dark horse squad that could join the Gordon pursuit: the Portland Trail Blazers, sources said.

The Orlando Magic value Gordon and are said to have a substantial price tag attached to his availability.

And now we see it. For my guys who thought the WOW lineup was a playoff lineup, keep in mind that all three of these guys were always gonna have these availability issues.

The fact that Stone has targeted AG multiple times (Russ trade, Harden trade and now Dipo trade) tells me that Rockets FO have a vision on how to incorporate this player into their rebuild.

Worrying about his salary now (which is actually very reasonable) is premature.

AG is also an asset for future trades considering his versatility and ability to fit almost every team.

I think the best potential outcome at this point is to tank while showing promise for the future.

I want to see KPJ, KMJ and Wood play together. I also want to lose. Given our difficult schedule and the injuries to Wall and Gordon, I think there is an opportunity to do both.

    Imagine if you are wrong.

Imagine if Stone actually knows what he is doing.

I know, my mind is blown too.

I have been especially hard on Ra-fell so this news makes me optimistic. Hope is hard to come by these days.

I'm not worried about what he's making now--I'm worried about what his extension is going to look like next summer so it's really not that premature. He's being underpaid, imo, now and I'm sure he's going to look at something in the $20 million per year range for his next contract. Is he worth that contract, to be the pseudo 2nd option on this team, at a point when the franchise really needs to bring in young cheap talent?

If he comes here make no mistake--I'll support it and hope he does well because, again, I like AG and think he's underrated. But it really would be another example of how the front office (don't spend when you have a championship roster but pay high salaries to extend players that aren't franchise cornerstone material) is just ass backwards in their roster building process.

There’s no debating or reasoning with you on this one, considering your love for AG. So I’ll just let you have this one. Lol

One potential advantage to Gordon is he’s a buy low extension candidate. You can look at that multiple ways. He’s been injured, and there’s a chance that continues...but there’s also a chance he agrees to a reasonable extension.

If we can lock up our 4 and 5 spots for a total of $35 million for the next several seasons, that may be worth doing, especially if we can dump Wall and Gordon over the summer.
