Disagree, they’d win a game against the other bad teams once in a while and not get blown out (outcoached) in the 3rd quarter of almost every single game. There’s a reason we are on the cusp of the longest losing streak in NBA history.
KPJ is the only guy available on the roster that isn’t a rookie/G Leaguer or someone that isn’t going to be here in 2 weeks. How is “internal motivation” overcoming that?
No way. Even if you think she's terrible - even if Tilman thinks he's terrible, he's not going to get fired. Tilman won't pay 2 head coaches at the same time. I do worry that once we become decent (as in, once we are in contention of making the playoffs) Silas might get fired because he'll be associated with our years of losing.
You can't just coach people to not be horrendous shooters clanking wide open shots. The sound of the ball clanking the rim is echoing through my mind. Silas can only be so bad anyways. He has a great assistant coaching staff. It just comes down to our players being trash. Kpj and tate are the only actual players worth keeping. Nwaba is OK but replaceable. Rockets roster is just ass and hopefully it won't be for long. We have brought in some good players in Wood KPJ and Tate. Wall is good. That's a starting 4 to build around.
Fertitta ain't about to pay for 2 head coaches. He is safe through at least 3 seasons, even if the Rockets bottom out every single year. Welcome to Fertits ownership Rockets fans, get used to the new Rockets!
The question isn't always "should we fire Silas?" The question should be "if we fire Silas, which coach on the open market would do a better job?" But to get a 'better' coach means Tilman paying 2 coaches (lol fat chance) AND we become slightly better. So, most definitely still under .500 but not this bad. And honestly, that's a worse position to be in CONSIDERING WE'RE TANKING.
In order for your team to tank you need not only bad players but also bad coaching so we're doing the right thing kidding aside, there's no point to let Silas go after the season ends because this team ain't making the playoffs any time soon. It's time to acquire as many prospects as possible and, when you have those players on the roster, only then will you need to can the coach for a better one.
Silas is safe until the final year of his contract, whenever that is. Tilman is too cheap to pay two coaches at once for more than a year.
I think the question is, is Silas the best guy to develop young players? If you hired him to run a veteran ball club then now the question becomes is he still the right guy to work with a team of 20-25 year olds for a complete rebuild? I don’t have that answer. I can say I dislike his body language in the post games though.
Silas is the right guy. I think he'll do amazing things throughout our rebuild, and then when that comes to fruition. His tenure should be a long one.
Having the most churn of any team in the league (most different starting lineups) combined with so many veterans that don't really want to be here makes this a pretty unique tanking situation. If he gets a rebuilt squad of young guns this off-season, and they still aren't even competing within the first month or two of next season, then he's gone.
