Victor Oladipo is coming off of a major injury, he has been on bad or mediocre franchises his entire career.... and then he joins a team that is approaching 20 straight loses and is another bad dysfunctional organization....... he hasn't played especially well either.... and he knows he will likely be traded again, and may play for yet another city next year.... yes he has made a lot of money, but everything is relative and I am sure that he really doesn't feel all that great now under the circumstances. Oladipo didn't ask to be traded to the Rockets.... he is suffering with off/on again injuries as well........ this period of his professional basketball career will likely be very forgettable for him. He shows up and plays hard, he just doesn't play all that well.
With all that said, he’ll get paid. He already turned 47 million. Whatever happens from here on he controlled his own destiny. Pj Tucker situation is a lot more helpless than Dipo’s has been.
I agree that they should be doing everything they can to improve the league and draw back interest to have a staple existence in the sports industry. Most fans only see a product and don't understand the backdrop of the NBA so they can't be empathetic towards the players in that regard.
I honestly have no ill will towards him at all and hope he finds health and happiness. I don't think he's throwing it in. I don't think he's quit. I think he's miserable and I really do hope he finds the light at the end of it all.
Oladipo is the most fake star i have seen for a long time. Even Bonzi Wells had more sense in his game
i read this and honestly don't even care. there's 0 reason dipo should be on this roster after the trade deadline. but with the way Tilman and co operate it wouldn't surprise me if its just another one of the horrible decisions added to the list
This... simply. It's not hard for savvy pros (and their agents) to see that an arrogant guy running a low-margin business (let alone, one ill-equipped to cope with a severe downturn in demand) is not someone who will put out for NBA-requisite excellence. Tillman should have bought a few head of prize livestock instead, and then made the show/rodeo circuit. That way, if his entries come close a few times but ultimately lose, he could just roll the assets back into his restaurant businesses... literally. Meh- I guess if you're going to fail, do it spectacularly so you'll be remembered. Orange Man- his example, and idol- would grudgingly agree.
I am half expecting the Rockets to over pay for Gordon..... extend Dipo this summer and then....... roll out a team of Wood/Gordon/Dipo/Porter/Wall and be locked into that group for years.... while having Tilman get on television and say how excited they are for the future.......... while the Rockets struggle to score and are first round fodder for the foreseeable future. That sounds like the type of route the Rockets under Tilman takes.
I can relate, I'm upset too. This team sucks and there is no guarantee of a top 4 pick, just a 50-50 chance at best.
Look guys, I know we are all Rockets fans but let’s be real. No established NBA player wants to play for the Rockets.
Right now according to Spotrac, the following teams have about the same amount of cap space if they don't bring ANY of their pending free agents back: Miami Memphis Houston Dallas Toronto If I were a young free agent player I don't think Houston would be in the Top 3 of this list as a preferred team to go to...maybe not even 4th.
Oladipo's biggest problem is his complete lack of explosion. He can barely dunk in the open court. He ran a couple of decent P/R's but he isn't a good passer. KPJ didn't get any opportunities because of him. Nobody will want his 21 M expiring contract especially since he has made it clear he wants to go to the Heat. Riley isn't stupid, he won't even offer a second round pick for him. Even Michael Jordan won't go that route for Victor plus one or two FRP's. I hope Stone won't make such an offer to Cuban. He will dump someone like WCS and fillers for Oladipo's expiring contract plus picks. @ApacheWarrior I know you have alluded to this before, plus the often injured Porzingis.
This is such a weird tweet with no basis. I didn't think Oladipo was mailing it in at all last night. Probably one of his better games; he hasn't been very effective but his effort level has been consistently pretty high...
