LOL Aaron Gordon? Just the type of player they need to avoid. What are we doing here? Trying to go 42-40? https://bleacherreport.com/articles...trade-opportunity-in-orlandos-available-stars Until Gordon's left ankle sprain that sidelined him for six weeks, the Timberwolves and Magic were nearing an agreement on a package for Gordon that centered on Ricky Rubio and future draft capital, sources said. Houston, Dallas, Denver and Golden State have also expressed notable interest in Gordon dating back to November's draft. Orlando's asking price appears reasonable, seeking a combination of picks and young players. It's uncertain what youngster the Timberwolves would have sent the Magic, but before the Nets acquired James Harden in mid-January, Brooklyn first presented an offer involving either Caris LeVert or Spencer Dinwiddie for Gordon, sources said, yet the Magic were seeking a higher 2020 draft asset than the Nets were able to secure. With Denver, sources said its package would center around Bol Bol, yet there's an apparent hesitation from the Nuggets front office about having to potentially pay both Gordon and Michael Porter Jr. next summer. For Dallas, Dwight Powell has been rumored among league personnel as the centerpiece in any deal. Some lead members of New Orleans' front office are also quite high on Gordon, sources said, but it's Houston that appears particularly motivated to land him. In several conversations before the Rockets moved Harden, sources said Houston asked interested teams to engage Orlando as a means for the Rockets to ultimately net Gordon, similar to how they ended up acquiring Victor Oladipo. That same line of thinking now seems to be taking place in Houston's early talks gauging Oladipo's own trade value. "Whatever happens with this Oladipo situation, they want to turn into Aaron Gordon," one person with knowledge of the situation said.
They would love to, but there isn't much of a market for the players the Rockets are shopping so they are waiting to see if interest increases by the deadline. The offers they are getting now are so low that they will be able to get similar value at the deadline even if teams move onto other trade targets.
He has a career EFG% of SUB 50%. That isn't Westbrook bad but it Oladipo bad. Stone and Silas roll into town and now we apparently don't care if a player can shoot....
In fairness for about 75% of his career he’s played out of position. I could see him as a big change of scenery guy. I’d be more than happy to swap VO for him.
He’s getting to the line way, way more than ever before this season, and it’s been his best 3 point shooting season. The only thing dragging down his eFG/TS is his poor 2P% and close finishing but I hope that can be attributed to playing with some of the worst spacing in the league.
I am always cautious when it comes to Gordon on the offensive side of the ball. I just find him to be an odd target for a team like the Rockets.
Aaron Gordon is a bad contract. Trading assets for him is hilarious, but par for the course for this clown org. Might as well trade assets for Gary Harris.
Absolutely, I would deal VO and Tucker for him...... I just suspect a deal for him would require picks going back to Orlando... and that is when it gets dicey for me.
It's not a bad contract. It expires after next season and it's at good value. I'd rather trade for him and give us an additional asset for next year.
Why? You don’t need a floor spacing 4 next to Wood, you do need defending and rebounding. I’m not saying he can hit 30% and it will be fine, but he will have a lot of corner 3s as they run the pick n roll/pop with Wood. Wood will be spacing the floor a lot at the top of the key. There’s also great potential for them to run pick n roll with Gordon while Wood spots up or offers vertical spacing on the dunkers spot. I think it’s a potential great fit. And they’re the same age, plus AG depending on his free agency can be flipped later. He could really flourish in a new situation and become more valuable down the line.
Yeah, it isn't a bad contract and actual has surplus value. He is a good defender with size, strength and athleticism and a lot of teams would love to add him as a corner stone between their wings and bigs. I just find it odd that the Rockets want him because we are not anywhere near contending.
I'd prefer to keep Dipo and do Tucker, Exum and Detroit/Washington picks. I think they can raise his value enough to get 2 better picks in a year or even to move up in the draft. Maybe Minnesota gets the first pick, the Rockets get 4. Pick 4 and Gordon for pick 1 on a team who really doesn't need Cunningham with two ball dominant guards on long term control in Anthony Edwards and D-Russel. Or maybe he takes a huge step. Those picks are funny money. I'd try to keep Portland and Milwaukee in said deal.
I find it odd because I don't think the Rockets realistically will be ready to contend until his contract is up and Wood is also a free agent or close to it. I agree that spacing and not playing with an elite playmaker have held Gordon back somewhat, but I don't think the Rockets have that player either. Gordon can fit on most teams, and his foot speed and relative strength make him a good counter to Wood...... but I don't think we are at the point for it to matter yet. I suppose if the Rockets ended with Cunningham or Suggs the rebuild could be sped up, I just don't want the Rockets to settle for too quick a rebuild.
"Odd" and "the Rockets" go together, though. Nowadays. Forgive the non sequitur of a post, but did you foresee a point where we'd lose every f*****g game? Shouldn't Rod Sterling be introducing every Rockets game now? In any case, if this is true (i.e., no matter what happens, we want AG), then, yes, we'll be waiting until March 25th to see.......something. Anything.
I am a fan of Aaron Gordon; thought he would have been fantastic next to Harden a couple of years ago. That being said, is the interest from the Rockets stemming from trying to bring in Gordon to mask Wood's defensive/rebounding deficiencies...or do they think Gordon can be a solid 2nd option? Because sure he's only 25 but he's going to finish his 7th season in the league and there's only been a handful of players that have made "the leap" after being in the league for so long and he's due for a new contract (e.g. going to be expensive). I guess my question (and probably the same one @Nook had) is what is the end game for pursuing AG at this point? Surely a core of Wood/Gordon/KPJ (?) is going to put this team on a treadmill of mediocrity again...unless I'm totally not seeing what some are seeing. If that's the case then please clue me in.
I do too. At the same time, I could see Silas pushing for an opportunity to rebuild quicker. I can't imagine that he signed up to be in this mess right now, although, with him being the league 20 years, he should know **** can change in an instant.
Of all AG's 3PT attempts in the past four seasons. ~40% were from the corners. 3 out of those 4 seasons he was shooting, check notes, below 20% from those spots.
Lol you feel the same way about those imaginary Washington and Detroit FRP picks as I do....I’ve been screaming to use those low probability picks as trade sweeteners
