A top 4 pick plus 20 M cap room is what we need. No to acquiring Aaron Gordon or anyone else. Cade is my choice. @BimaThug Please let me know if this is feasible, even if Eric and John aren't traded.
I personally have Suggs at 5 which would mean the pick was conveyed to OKC. That's the only reason I didn't mention him. I like him as a prospect but I view him as more of a robin than a batman myself. Also, if KPJ is being groomed to run the point I think I want the next foundational piece to be a front court player (unless that player is Cade).
Agreed. I am not opposed to getting Gordon but I would rather do that this offseason. At this point, the tank is too far along not to see it through. I worry that Aaron Gordon would add a few meaningless wins that would push us to the Miami pick.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.th.../1/13/22226644/2021-nba-draft-evan-mobley-usc Don’t think people really understand how special this kid could be.
My "problem" with Mobley is Wood. If the Rockets get a top 4 pick and are eyeing Mobley I would be perfectly fine with that so long as they have a deal in place for Wood. I am not sure that Wood and Mobley compliment one another in today's game and dont think the Rockets have the luxury of duplicative pieces at the moment unless they are committed to a multiple season rebuild (I am not sure they are prepared to do that). For me I am hoping for Cade or Kuminga at the moment though that could change and Mobley might be a guy that upends that desire.
Suggs has played all his life with a dominating center. He would fit very well next to Wood. He knows the importance of 3s and how to feed your big
I dont dispute any of that. I just am not sure that Wood is poised to be the alpha on a really good team. And I dont see Suggs as an alpha either. So while they may fit together I dont see the pairing as one that is good enough to get the Rockets to where they might want to be. Just my thoughts.
I don’t think we can afford to think about how draft picks compliment the current players on the roster, even Wood. I think we have to go best player available and I look at us building from square one. Of course I see wood as our only true building block so if we can avoid picking a player who won’t compliment him I completely understand, but I don’t think u pass on a player u have identified as the best player simply because of how he’d mesh with wood. Remember, we only have wood for two more years for certain. BPA baby!
Cade was a wing before playing PG. Needs to gain more strength to play 4. But that might slow him down, need him to become elite at switch 1-5.
Stone should consider every player scenario, including drafting player that complements Wood, he is GM, that is his job. In any case, Wood is perfect for Silas and Stone 5 Out offense, so any players acquired should also complement Wood by definition.
100% on this. Which is why once they feel Mobley is the guy they need to start lining up a deal for Wood. Say they get the second pick and decide that Mobley will be the guy (after Cade presumptively goes #1) then they need to, at that moment start working the phones so that once they are on the clock they pick Mobley knowing they have a deal lined up for Wood (I would expect a lottery pick and filler for him).
The post you quoted has nothing to do with Cade. I was pointing out the similarities between Kuminga and Blake Griffin's height and length. For the record, I think Cade is "limited" to playing the 1, 2 or 3 at a high level.
