Because he would get the credit, could choose a teammate to join him, and they would have one of the best players under 22 with 2 top 10 picks .. Why did Kawhi go to the clippers? They didn't have the top picks, likely rookie of the year, or cap space for 2 max guys... they had to trade their future for another star... Future would be brighter in Sacramento... they aren't good enough now are they?
So if kawhi was paired with the next luka with cap space for a max free agent and 2 lottery picks they don't win? How little you think of kawhi...
Still don’t think he’d leave clippers for Sacramento. I feel like the clippers would trade pg and acquire a new 2nd star rather than Kawhi leaving
https://tradenba.com/trades/YLmGLLJnq Rockets out: Dipo, PJ, Sterling Brown and Exum Rockets in: Meyers Leonard, Precious, RJ Hampton, Gary Harris and Denver's FRP Why: Poor fit vets for potential better fit youth and a first rounder Miami out: Meyers Leonard, Precious, and Avery Bradley Miami in: Dipo and Sterling Brown Why: Oladipo might be there best bet at adding talent to their current core and may not be obtainable except by trade now. Denver out: Gary Harris, RJ Hampton and 2021 first round pick Denver in: PJ Tucker, Dante Exum and Avery Bradley Why: Add veterans/defense for a playoff run and get out of Harris' contract.
That's why I said it wasn't likely but it wouldn't shock me to see Kawhi leave. He's a different cat and the Clippers looked like they have topped out as the 2nd best team in LA with no assets to change that. He has a player option. He didn't sign an extension like George did... makes me think he could be leaving himself some options to see how this year players out... To me, if they are a #3 seed I'm out. They have no draft capital, cap space, and they aren't young.... unless George is moved for 2-3 young pieces that look promising I don't like the situation if I'm Kawhi. There will be better situations than Sacramento from a front office and stability situation. It's hard to not be enticed though by Halliburton, a couple of lottery picks, and 2 max contract slots... People underestimate how well Halliburton has played. He's arguably their best player already....
Not crazy about taking on Gary Harris' money if we still have Gordon; who is better for similar money. Would rather take a first with expirings.... I think Tucker will get a late 1 (Denver) and Dipo a borderline lottery pick....
Gary Harris has one season left after this one. So it's not too painful a pill to swallow.....or suppository to melt, I suppose.
I thought he was a diego guy..... when you have money and fly private sac town isn't that far... I get your point, but he's not winning a ring there it seems... maybe he doesn't care about any more rings.

Yeah, that'd be great. But I have to believe that if Tucker or Dipo were garnering that type of interest they would already be moved. Also, the reason that the Rockets get a first in my trade proposal was for taking on the rest of Harris' contract.
I could see the Spurs sending Aldridge to Boston (into their TPE) for 1st round pick + player. I would hope Stone might be able to sneak into that deal. Something like... BOS: Aldridge (SAS) SAS: Tucker (HOU) HOU: Robert Williams III (BOS) + BOS 2021 FRP that would be a best case scenario, but interesting nonetheless @Boston84
