I think Morey was good at getting the 'under the radar' players initially as he was hoping to catch lightning in a bottle - but then as we became contenders it became 'guys that can help us now...' mindset... prob was we still had numerous wasted roster spots with guys that were never gonna make it on the floor (outside of a blowout) for MDA... then we got an injury and we were short handed... Maybe he had to spend too much time placating and coddling Blames - while trying to keep the house of cards erect... that he didnt have as much time to search out the diamonds in the rough - and simply resorted to acquiring lottery busts at bargain pricing... I will say I was a big Morey fan - but the last few years were disappointing - from a finding undervalued players that could contribute perspective... Then he'd get a decent one (like House) and it would turn into a sh*t show with him trying to wrangle for more value (by not converting - and trying to lock in a long term contract for peanuts...) Yeh... i think DM really lost his mojo there toward the end...
yeh... I'm not even looking for a Harden level player - those are much too rare... but i'm talking more we gotta find somebody that the other team isnt going to re-sign (due to limited payroll, glut at the position, whatever else...) so the front end cost isnt too high - but we're gonna have to be willing to pay on the back end... not necessarily a max deal type player but pay above market level on potential...
Leonard is on the last year of his contract and injured. Miami would just include him for salary matching purposes and the Rockets would cut him or buy him out. The ONLY reason Miami hasn't cut him already is because he is on an expiring and he is injured and won't play again this season.
He's got a club option for next year, so if we end up getting him in a trade, next summer we could accept that option if someone wants to trade for him, locking him in at a year for his new team.
"I realize that kind of talk isn't kosher..." I wonder if this skit (doesn't even exist in a clear SNL Vintage format, it's a blurry home copy thing) would even get made today.
probably no one, 2 weeks until deadline. I wouldn’t imagine a trade happens on the road trip before a 12 day home stand.
