Man, it’s done been burned...the problem is our players have little to no trade value at the moment. :(

If Rockets can get a young all star for Tate + pick , fine by me.

The Rockets are in a much different situation then what he signed up for, but yes, the Rockets should ask for his blessing if a deal arises. I'm not sure his answer would matter, but it doesn't look as bad. He likely would have a chance at ring for the next few years vs being on a tanking team. Also, if he rolls his ankle again, then his trade value would go wayyy down. I'd hate to see him go, I really think he can help us win games. Unfortunately, that is not the goal this season and maybe the next few seasons. Good chance this tank lasts until Wall is an expiring, which makes me think the Rockets will take a bad contract if possible with the same length.as Wall's.

Stone will be a wild card for a while but I think other GMs would figure him out eventually.

It's going to be what he can do under certain circumstances and parameters.

Except in the NBA 25-26 isn't young any longer, he is somewhere inbetween.

He does not have a whole lot of mileage and that is the cool thing about them.

2-4 years is what I envision they would keep him. The trade market is in flux.

Should be looking to acquire young players and draft picks while also maintaining roster flexibility. I'm hoping he can shed salary by trading away Eric Gordon and John Wall at some point without having to attach picks/sweeteners. Besides shedding salary, they shouldn't stay for the rebuild anyways. I'm so used to seeing Morey trading away picks and young players to retool the roster and now we have Stone likely about to tear down the roster and build it back up. So many unknowns that I can't wait to find out. Can't even fully judge the Harden trade until we see what Stone plans on doing with the picks as well as Oladipo.

As a side note, I often wondered if the Rockets truly wanted Ben Simmons. Does his max contract fit in the Rockets future plans/timetable? As a result, I thought that the Rockets would've built around Simmons and traded away Wall, but now the Rockets are obviously going a different route hopefully for the better!

Excellent. I'll add that if Houston could do a blockbuster (Oladipo + Wood for Wiseman + Minnesota pick + filler) then that's a definite no-brainer. If this upcoming draft is as "deep" as a lot of people think, then there's a fairly decent chance that Houston could get two top-4 picks.

Or perhaps it could be viewed as a hedge in case Houston's pick is #5 and goes to Oklahoma City. Such a hypothetical is unrealistic (wait until draft night to trade Wood or by the next season's trade deadline), but lining up top talent one year after another (Wiseman + 2-top 4 picks in 2021) could be a "re-do" of when Houston [theoretically] had the chance to put Olajuwon + Drexler + Jordan on the same team.

Obviously nowhere near the chance of that happening, but point is: if everyone's talking about how Tate isn't on the Rockets' timeline, then why would Wood be, who is the same age? I like Wood a lot, but if there's a chance to start fresh by putting together 3 top-4 picks then you do it. If nothing else, that would expedite the rebuild by a year I would think.

They trade Tate for anything short of18 year old Lebron and I'm gonna be pissed.

Tate & Wood are the only reasons to watch this dumpster fire.

Not trading PJ would be a crime. Not trading Oladipo would be stupid. I also voted for Sterling Brown, only because he's on a one year deal. So if we can get something for him - might as well.

Despite what I read here, I suspect that there is not that much real interest in Wall or Oladipo, especially given our asking price which should not include picks going out.

Man, you guys have no patience. Already wanting to trade away the best guy we have signed in a long time. This is a rebuild, it takes multiple moves and drafts to get all the pieces in place. 5 player trades are not likely so stop putting those fantasy packages together as ideas for Stone. Give the guy a chance to make some moves and then we can see what direction we are heading in. I don't think they want to tank and be this bad for years, injuries have really hurt this team this year. So lets just see what happens over the next 2 weeks and go from there..
