I am sure St. Anthony's is a wonderful school, run by good people. But I don't know how valid it is using them as a model for the United States? They are a private school (tuition between $10,000-20,000), with a total school operating budget of $7,000,000, with 540 students and 58 teachers, and a 9:1 student to teacher of ratio (the national average is 16:1), with a beautiful campus and plans for growth. They also have a moderate climate that would allow for more "outdoor time" for students and teachers. How similar is this to public schools in Houston? In NYC?

Heard from family in Singapore that they the Singapore government is mandating vaccination. There is some resistance to it along the lines that not everyone thinks the vaccines are safe but it sounds like the government isn't giving the Singaporeans a choice. FYI it sounds like most of the vaccinations are the Pfizer vaccine as the Singapore government invested in it.

it's bullshit and you know that's not going to fly in public schools. My son's teachers told me that they only take the mask off in recess. Off topic rant. Teachers are giving us a hard time saying my 8 year old son looks at his mom too much during zoom class. They are really concerned and that he should go in-person class instead because this trump agenda teacher thinks he lacks confidence or something. Mixed feelings. Personally, I have no issues with it, but I understand the reluctance of others. When we went to Africa, we had to show proof of some vaccinations so it's not a new thing globally.
It's weird to me that our Covid death rate in Texas is higher with fewer cases. For instance, Jan 14th our 7 day ave of new cases was 23,135 with 310 deaths, which is 1.3%. March 7 our 7 day ave of daily new cases was 5,825 with 214 deaths, which is 3.6%.
Israel is starting vaccine certificates. Things like a phone app to quickly prove to an establishment if someone got it or not. That's what I was thinking too. Probably less testing. Makes me question Abbott even more with the death rate actually higher, which probably means a lot more asymptomatic carriers out there than the numbers show.
