It was started by the Republicans, that pic that got the ball rolling was promoted by all Republican outlets and then Tweeden did the rounds amplifying it.

    They were both culpable.

And the point of this thread is to show the hypocrisy not what is actually cancelled.

Everyone here is mocking the concept of cancel culture. We all know that the things we listed were not literally canceled except maybe a few things like parents getting upset at school reading material that has homosexuality in it which is a much more accurate portrayal of the good faith defention of being "canceled".

1 of the funniest and most pathetic things I’ve seen conservatives cry over is some supposed “war on Christmas”

when I 1st heard about it, I was like

I'm old enough to remember Conservatives attempting to cancel a free and fair election just 90 days ago. Shortly afterwards they attempted to cancel (and censure) members of their own party that dared stand against tyranny. Oh, what about those folks whipped up by Conservatives that stood on the Capitol grounds with a gallows erected to 'cancel' the Vice President of our country? Good times.

But, as has been pointed out, none of this is really about cancel culture. This is all about moving on from an attempted insurrection by tapping into identity politics and victimization culture while deflecting away the lack of governing the last 4 years. How in the world Dr. Seuss books are taking up people's energy and attention is beyond me.

By the way, who here is aware that Ronna McDaniel's maiden name is Romney? Are you also aware Trump requested McDaniel 'cancel' the use of her maiden name? A name she used for years as Ronna Romney-McDaniel until Trump requested she change it because, well, Trump couldn't abide that surname given it's attached to a Trump critic, so he had Ronna cancel her own maiden name cleansing it from her social media accounts, etc. Trump is the snowiest of fragile snowflakes.

I don’t agree with the word conservative. It’s been hijacked like Islam has by radicals. Let’s please call it neocons or trumpists

But yea , they’ve tried to “cancel” cvoting for certain ppl with suppression

Fair enough. Conservatives or Republicans... I don't recognize these things any longer. To your point, they have been hijacked. I suppose that may extend to the labels liberals and progressives. I can't keep up any longer with the labels as they are just a means to stamp someone as 'not our tribe'. Seems like Neanderthal-thinking, those labels. My preferred pronouns are American, Texan, and Houstonian. :D

The GOP literally tries to cancel any member of their carcass (oh, oops, how to spell) who does not vote with the GOP block on any Trump-related issue.

I remember when Harry Potter came out there were many that thought it was demonic or something.

Which is ironic since nowadays plenty on the left are trying to cancel Harry Potter because of JK Rowling.
