I think KPJ would be a success story if he can become a consistent 6 man on an NBA team. He needs work on his jumpshot in the off season. Now a days one cannot be a dominant guard without at least shooting 36% + from the 3 point line imo (unless you are Luka)
I don't he's comparing TWill and KPJ directly, just the hype that they're getting on the board. TWill was seen as a possible super role player, like an Iggy type, and he still massively underperformed the board's crazy expectations. KPJ is getting comparisons to James Harden which is obviously an extremely high bar that can leave a lot of room for disappointment.
Absolutely. Harden is a top 25 player at worst all time. That is a very disappointing baramoter to set for any twenty year old except some once in a generation type player like Lebron. Only a handful of players all time by twenty were near slam dunks to be sure first ballot HOFers as long as no severe injuries plagued them. But also keep in mind that someone hyped about a 20 year old Harden reaching top 25 all time status would at the time be considered setting himself up for failure also. But also Harden didn't have those severe mental health issues that KPJ has so he even has a bigger hurdle to climb. But the talent is there.
Ya the Vipers really do suck without KPJ. It's a night and day difference. It's a good sign because a lot of NBA players who wrecked it in the g-league didn't translate to winning basketball in the g-league where their team was elite because of their play. This shows how important KPJ's playmaking ability was.
