How is can't jump or finish Blake an upgrade to Green?

Do we really want to talk about his defense currently?

I am not a Blake hater but some people are gonna be in for a rude awakening, maybe he just needs time but he is currently not better than Green.

Green can't make that extra pass?

not necessarily true. Both of those guys have clearly carved out their roles on that nets team. And its different from what blake is capable of at this stage of his career. He isn't there to be an upgrade from those guys. He's there for simply depth

Not as well as Blake. Blake has guard like passing skills.

He is more skilled then two . Defensively he is a downgrade but as a roller and a passer out of the rolls he is way ahead of them. We will see how it goes.

And that really does not matter if he can't threaten a defense like he used to, nobody is gonna help on Blake anymore, currently he looks like Tucker trying to finish at the rim.

The Nets don't need another playmaker and for what Green and Brown do on that team he is not an upgrade.

I hope he gets some rejuvenation but he looks like boogie currently and I think will get torched on defense, I see him only getting spot minutes.

He was three years ago. His myriad knee problems seem to have messed him up good. He looks so slow out there these days... Though granted I've only watched him a tiny amount, and maybe there is some hope of more recovery. But he looks like he's had a Cousins-esque fall.

He can occasionally go off . He pretty much owned the Lakers this season in the pistons win. He seems to play better against the more high profile clubs. Combination of motivation and chance at a ring will probably be enough to get whatever he has left out for one last season

I really don't see anything Black brings to the team but a name.
I mean . . unless it is to appease DJ . . . .who is not all that right about now either. . . .
I just don't see why they do this

I think he is insurance against missing out on Drummond . .. unless they already know something on Drummond

I think he was pretty much dogging it and a combo of injuries probaly didn’t help. He will never be a star again, but with chance at a ring and a lesser load on him with a playmaker like harden getting him easier shots he will be better then what he was in Detroit

It's not bad for a vet min signing.

Championship teams do these kind of things.

I thought he looked like Boogie too, just not as clumsy.

But Blake can still go off from time to time, Boogie can no longer dominate offensively.

It's still a bit weird to me unless he's just injury insurance. That team had more than enough talent to get it done already. They really don't need Blake at all. Not even sure he's a worthwhile gamble when your team is that stacked.

    Not that player anymore.

Blake has not dunked since end of 2019.

He signed for the vet minimum . He gives the Nets a hefty body for the small 5 lineups and an insurance at the 4 for the times KD sits out due to load management. He isn’t being asked to be the number 2 or 3 or 4 or even 5 option anymore. Really it’s a low risk high reward move. Most people though Batum was finished to but he was put into a different situation and now he looks terrific.

depends what skills you're expecting out of him. blake is nowhere close to what he was in LA. Brown is much better defensively and is way more active to fill the gaps as the junk guy for the nets to finish off put dunks and the dump offs around the rim. Also, as a shooter when needed. Green has great chemistry with harden/kd. that's been evident for awhile with his versatility. at this point, he's a better finisher than blake with his athletic ability at the rim. Blake hasn't dunked in over a year and his ability to move is a shell of his former self. And without blakes old athleticism, he doesn't have the height/wingspan to be that finisher he used to be above the rim. Blake does some things still that can help the nets, but I wouldn't go as far as to say he's clearly an upgrade over Brown/Uncle Jeff.

They view him as a small ball 5 man. As I said earlier don’t discount the lack of motivation and obviously the injuries have robbed him of pretty much the majority of his athletic ability. However I do think the chance at a ring, in a team with a far lessen burden on him on the offensive end he can be better then what he has shown in the last two seasons. It’s a lot like Nicolas Batums deal
