Mobley could be the best prospect out of all of them this year, but will take more time to reach his apex - he can handle the ball, shoot from deep, post up and defends at a high level for a 7 footer. I really like Cade too, and honestly this whole draft is pretty damn good - perfect year for Stone to jump back into the top 10-15 EVEN if he gets lucky to secure a top 4 pick. I wouldn't draft another young PG - mainly because I feel KPJ can be that guy moving forward and I wouldn't want that unnecessary competition when there are other positions that could use the attention. Give KPJ a big who can be a lob threat and hit an outside shot. A + defender and when you add Wood and Tate into that mix it inspires some confidence. Yeah I know Mobley TODAY is not what Durant was at the same age - KD torching NCAA for like 26 a game and just transitioning into doing the same in the NBA is a reason why he is a HOFer, but I like to give these guys something to shoot for!
I’m not sold on Porter like most Star point guards don’t grow on trees, there’s a reason we were able to get him for fairly nothing
You are absolutely entitled to your opinion and sentiment. I think he will change your mind and everyone else who is cautiously optimistic. Im going overboard on the guy because TO ME he has that "it" factor on the court that makes everyone around him better. The Vipers were not very good before he showed up and single handedly he had them playing like a great team and putting everyone in a position to be successful going on a long winning streak, racking up awards along the way and all the while LEARNING how to play PG. Its pretty impressive. Reasons and opinion on why he was attained so "easily" have been posited all over the place. Bickerstaff knew the ROX had a guy in John Lucas who could help KPJ mature and mentor him. Some guys say in return the ROX gave CLE Jarret Allen for basically "nothing" so there could have been some agreements there - who knows i think it was 100% the John Lucas Effect. Guys sht on the GLeague but then want to pump up an NCAA player when the GLeague has better competition than the college ranks. He even flashed for the Cavs as a rookie being asked to play small forward. Im excited for the next era of ROX BBALL and I think KPJ/Wood/Tate/Top Pick 2021/<insert any player here> is a lineup that will be fun to root for could challenge some teams in the playoffs as they gain some experience. If all goes well we could be sitting on a little dynasty!
I enjoyed reading your optimism. It is exciting to read such enthusiasm, about the future about this team. Losing the MVP Harden has been a tough pill to swallow, but the Rockets need to move full steam ahead into the next phase of a core that they will try and secure their third championship in team history.
Man I haven’t seen him play enough. I just Have got my hopes up n mAny times over the last couple of decades on situations like this and rarely do they ever pan out I hope you’re right
But we are much further off than you think that group of players that your grouping together for a future ain’t ****
We need to peg on a couple of different lottery picks, Sign a couple of good free agents And then maybe we might be able to compete in the west again but we are far far away
I hope I’m wrong though I hope you’re right!! I think we are way further off than people think I would much rather be in the Timberwolves shoes
Yeah but in fairness we were all saying that "well there is a reason he went undrafted" type thing about Christian Wood during his first stint with the Rockets too. Now we're like, "Possible second coming of Hakeem." Strange things sometimes happen.
I’m not saying next Hakeem ever... I’ll give him as the best free-agent signing this off-season I also think the rookie Tate pick up was a big pick up But like I said a minute ago , the Timberwolves have the worst record in the league and if I was building for the future I would way rather have their assembly of talent than what we have right now I think a lot of the homers on here will disagree But I guarantee you almost every GM in the NBA would take their roster over ours for the future
my favorite player to watch in this draft...the jumper is pure, and the skill level is off the charts...very smooth and makes it look effortless Kuminga gets mentioned a lot, but I don’t really like him...his shot is too suspect...I’m generally not a fan of the athletic, but bad shooter types so far in the G-League...25% from 3 on 5 attempts a game, and 63% from the line more history of his shooting: Shot 29.8% from 3 on 7.8 attempts per game during the Nike EYBL in 2019...Shot 55.2% from the line during the Nike EYBL in 2018 and 62.7% in 2019
Imagine Evan Mobley throwing lobs to Wood. And Porter. 7'0 footer with SF game, especially his ball handling. Can switch everything on defense.
This guy is going to be good but I see him as a long term project. Will probably need about two years of body development and shot work to get to where we need him to be. With Cade he looks like would be ready to perform in the NBA. It really depends how patient we want to be.
Well if we really wanna win and win big we probably should be patient .... I’m totally cool with two-year projects, I could care less to make the playoffs next year- I’d rather have another top 4 pick lol The goal is to grab 2 corner stone superstars out of the draft ... And then we still would have tons of flexibility to bring in some free agents - Maybe even a superstar if our talent is promising enough Yeah we need some luck- Or do we really just need some great talent evaluators?
I dont know alot about this yrs draft class. But if Stone sees somebody at say 12-15 he really likes he should absolutely trade back into the 1st rd in this draft. Because from what I've read, this yrs class the #15 guy would be in the #8/10 range in the 2022 draft. Just from looking at those highlights if there Cunningham is the pick you get 1-1.
