I have over the last week have thought that these things are happening, especially with bernie saying he would still work on the 15$ on another bill and vouching that Biden is still on board.

I hope this continues but you know somebody is gonna have to grandstand to get attention.

My respect for Bernie has actually risen the more I hear he is still working behind the scenes and not bomb throwing.

    You sure about that?

Taxability of UI benefits is a hot topic on the streets of Tempe and Wheeling. They're all about that and the 75k (NOT 80!!) phase out.

Apparently, it didn't matter, as manchin reneged and now won't vote for the reduced UE...

Yep, been following this. Seems like he likes the Republican Bill of ending in July.

Biden is going to have to put this man in check, wonder if he can do it.

Why is Manchin or however you spell it a Democrat, exactly?

He's for Obamacare and after that he looks pretty much Republican.

I just saw an issue ad telling Minnesotans to call Tina Smith and Amy Klobuchar and oppose "The California New York Bailout Bill". The Republican attack appears to try to focus on this as a blue state bailout.

$15 shouldn't apply to small business which would most certainly raise prices failing the business.

Thank god Twitter didn't exist in the old days.

*BREAKING LBJ SAYS HE WON'T PASS OMNIBUS BILL
*CORRECTION: LBJ JUST SAID HE ALREADY PASSED GAS

Which of the 50 Republicans that he looks like voted for reconciliation or for this Covid bill? How many of his fellow Republicans voted for impeachment the first time around? How many do you think will support voting rights legislation?

I wish people actually paid attention to what happens in politics. I been seeing the McConnell quotes and as usual with a clear agenda. I wish Americans had the balls to ask why didn’t the Republicans try to do more for them when they had the majority in the Senate. Why did they ignore relief bills sent by the House and negotiate after months of the bill being passed by the House. Unfortunately politicians can get away with this **** because Americans for the most part don’t keep up with these news.

You negotiate, you compromise, and you take the win, even if its less of a win than you hoped...

And, since a raise in minimum wage is supported by most Americans, you start again on that...

btw, senator sinema tweeted out this long ass statement trying to excuse herself for voting know. Remind her of her statement, and this previous one...

And hold her feet to the fire for this republican stunt...

No matter where you stand ideologically this bill isn't perfect and there is a lot to criticize from all sides. Perfection is just an idea and no major bill has ever pleased everyone.

We're still in an ongoing crisis and there is a lot that all sides can agree on, aid to small businesses, extending unemployment benefits beyond the deadline fast coming up, money and mandate for states to reopen schools and up $160 billion to manufacture PPE and to speed up vaccinations.

Certainly Progressives are frustrated that the $15 minimum wage didn't get in there and Conservatives are that it isn't a third the size but would the country be better off if we didn't pass those other things?

I'm disappointed that no Republican voted for it and while having bipartisan support would be good in a situation like this it needed to be done and history and the electorate will decide how to judge the Senators and Representatives who didn't vote for it out of partisan loyalty.

I still don't understand why were fighting over raising the minimum wage, extending unemployment benefits, and giving out yet another stimulus check.

The clear answer for both sides here is UBI, even if temporary. Instead, they'll pussyfoot around it, fight about it, delay everything as long as they can, and get people up on arms along the way. Typical Washington.

Kind of like how cigarettes are legal, and killing 100k+ Americans a year, but mar1juana is not legal, and kills how many people a year? (Not a mar1juana user...not that it matters....but it's crazy a plant is illegal)

I haven't seen all the details but my understanding is that there will be an exception for tipped businesses and also phased in with possible exceptions based on size of business.
