Because I don't go to jail for it / aren't shunned by society for it. Morally wrong? Sure. Do I care? Nope. Happy to substitute to meat alternatives though soon. I care more about the environmental impacts and will switch for that; for animal rights and all that I can't say I give a single ****.
Well... I dont know all the reasons why Im not, but I would venture to say the main reason is.... probably.... meat.
So assuming you subscribe to the philosophy of being an industrial vegan? In that case, does this apply to pork and venison? Hogs and Deer must be culled to help maintain balance. So in that case is it okay in your mind? So can I eat deer meat and pork if it was culled? I know some folks who have been helped greatly by switching to a vegan diet. Good for them. And good for you as well, but can’t say that I care for the condescending way in which you started this thread with the “holier than thou” vibe. But it’s all good. To answer your question, yes I eat meat, fish and chicken and milk, eggs, cheese etc. no, I don’t have an issue with it personally but can see how/why it would bother people. And regarding sustainability, Mother Nature has a way of taking care of things...whether it be climate, Yellowstone finally taking care of us or maybe it will be continued increases in infertility due to whatever environmental/technological reasons exist, I think in the end things will balance. But what the **** do I know anyway. enjoy your veganism and keep on caring. But I hope you don’t address this in this manner to people in person. Don’t be “that guy”. Have a good one
I was a strict lacto/ovo vegetarian for five years. I felt healthier, because it was a better diet than the processed crap I was eating before that. But when I returned to meat while still keeping junk food in check, I felt much stronger and healthier than I did on vegetarian. So health wise, at least in my experience, with meat > no meat. But the reason I went veg in the first place was due to the animal cruelty aspect. I still hate it and wish I responded better to a veg diet. If I did, I would probably stick with it. I don't think it's morally wrong to eat animals; that is simply natural. What is wrong is the way we treat them prior to killing them.
I'm a selfish human being. I value my own happiness over the suffering of animals I dont have to see until it comes nicely packaged in a Supermarket.
At the very least I hope the OP comes back with links to some documentaries (Food Inc. for example), or some factory farm/animal abuse videos. He's not wrong, it is ****ing terrible and shocking what we do to animals.
Bad thread is bad. @jacoby I wish you (or frankly someone smarter than you) actually wanted to have a proper conversation about this, but you have shown exactly zero desire, so ok.
Agree thread is bad, a lazy way to present debate on the topic, got a lot of lazy responses (but I'm not so sure a better presented thread would have prevented that). I don't think Jacoby isn't smart or doesn't genuinely want to have a discussion, dude just seems to make quick posts off of whims in general.
