Texas has become such a dump. Get out while you can.

This is all about Abbot deflecting from the failure of TX government during the freeze out. Abbott's not an idiot or ignorant he knows that any fix for the power grid, water pipes and other infrastructure cannot be done quickly, cheaply and will require decisions that are ideologically unpalatable. Lifting the mask mandate and declaring TX is 100% open is an easy distraction that pleases his base and dominates the coverage about TX.

Further Abbott likely knows too that lifting this now will most likely lead to a surge in a cases weeks from now. He's calculating that either vaccine rollout will be enough to counter it and barring that is already laying the ground work to the blame another frequent target his base, immigrants.

I agree there are some big problems in Texas and as said I'm not going to come back and visit until I'm vaccinated. That said there is still a lot of good things happening in TX and a lot of potential.

The same thing can be said for the US and I don't blame many of those who are looking to leave the country but as an American I still believe in this country and rather than leaving am even more determined to help solve this country's problems.

The GOP always tried to blame others for their loose and reckless stance. Greg Abbott is NOT using common sense. In fact, he is doing the exact opposite. Deflecting the blame on others is what they have done this whole time. Over 530,000 Americans dead, over 44,000 Texans dead, and not an ounce of remorse from their selfish lying lips.

Is that why people are flocking here from CA and NY in droves?

Ah yes, because CA and NY are beacons of what a state ought to be.

Dude Texas is like that landlord that will only renovate the outside of their property and vacant units while ignoring the requests of current tenants.

Hence why they are dead last in metrics such as percentage of residents with healthcare and have a extreme inequality when it comes to the quality of k-12 education where only wealthy suburbs have good public schools. Texas isn't good at creating their own skilled labor capital like states such as Mass, NY and Cali is hence why they need to nab them from other states so often.

NY and Cali are two of the largest contributors to our nation's gdp. I thought you would like gdp growth?

Wow, I never thought people would actually pine for a NY or CA way of life. Seriously, go live there for awhile and let me know how it goes, you will thank your stars you are in TX. Just ask the people that relocate here from those places. Nobody comes here then wishes they were back where they moved from. You think TX public school system unfair, have you been to a NYC (not suburban) public school?? Believe me, their inner city K-12 is no better than what we have in the inner cities here.

People move from NY and Cali because of taxes and cheaper real estate. They more often than not are cashing out and moving directly into an economic strata that isn’t impacted by the horrible politics that keep the have nots down and subservient...

    https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/pressroom/sosmap/infant_mortality_rates/infant_mortality.htm
Texas has a higher infant morality rate than both.

    https://www.cdc.gov/obesity/data/prevalence-maps.html
Texas has a higher obesity rate than both.

    https://www.beckershospitalreview.com/rankings-and-ratings/states-ranked-by-life-expectancy.html
Texas has a lower average life expectancy than both.

    https://www.beckershospitalreview.com/rankings-and-ratings/states-ranked-by-uninsured-rates.html
Texas has the highest percentage of residents without healthcare. California has a signficantly lower percentage even with a massive population of illegal immigrants like Texas.

    https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/rankings/education/prek-12
Texas is ranked lower than both states in overall quality of k-12 education.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_...itories_by_educational_attainment?wprov=sfla1
Texas has a lower percentage of degree holders than both states.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_and_territories_by_poverty_rate#States,_federal_district,_and_territories?wprov=sfla1
Texas has a higher poverty rate than both states.

Again, Texas is like that landlord that only renovates the outside of the property and vacant units while ignoring the needs and requests of current tenants.

Texas provides better lifestlyes for adults who lack self-awareness in the upper hand they had in their upbringing (suburban school district, two parent homes with full time stay at home parent etc) and who get offended when someone says "you didn't build that by yourself".

You do realize how subjective and ignorant that sounds, right?
