As opposed to any other gun in 45acp? Everything you want it to...? Does it cook eggs in the morning? This is a beginner gun purchaser and you suggest a 1911?
He wants the guy to have an accidental discharge lol. My EDC is a SA 3.3" XDS in 45acp though. It's only 6+1 but I figure I can at least get one on target lol.
I'd argue that someone who wants their handgun to cook eggs in the morning probably shouldn't have one. Honestly I'm not that fond of handguns at all, my 1911 is the only one I actually use, and I only use it as a sidearm when hunting.
For home self defense, an AR pistol would be better suited. Accurate and fairly easy to shoot. Handguns are useless except for concealment.
I disagree, I think when considering a purchase it's potentially valuable to hear from those who own and love handguns along with those who own but don't really love handguns. If you don't own one, you don't necissarily know which camp you'll end up in.
I have a Taurus PT709. It would be good for carrying if you want to do that. Agreed on the judge/governor suggestion though.
I have a SW Governor with laser sights (love to be able to mix and match between 410 and 45 colt or 45 ACP on the same cylinder) The Winchester 410 PDX defense rounds should stop anything with 3 slugs and 12 bbs in each shell. I also own a Sig P365 if I need something small to conceal. Both are great guns. You should def go to a range and try multiple guns to see what fits you well. but really you should determine if you really need a gun and prepared for the responsibility of ownership.
Instructions unclear I ended up buying a Gatling Gun. Thanks for all the helpful stuff here. I obviously don't want to shoot anyone, but figured after recent events it's time to stop being lazy and prepare for absolute worst case scenarios in any capacity (owning a weapon also introduces some new worst case scenarios in itself but...)
