It's pretty crazy to give up 2 first round picks in order to keep Ego and sign Collins... yuck. We can generate max FA salary just by dumping EGO. Possibly that would cost less than 2 firsts?
I'm aware but was having trouble finding enough expiring deals... Keep in mind there is value in players like Zubac... Not my favorite idea....
I think I've done it... I think this is the one to end all discussion... To Clippers: John Wall David Nwaba To Nuggets: PJ Tucker Marcus Morris Avery Bradley #1 Pick from Miami To Heat: Victor Oladipo To Rockets: Michael Porter Jr Bol Bol Pat Beverley Gary Harris Kendrick Nunn Moe Harkless (release/buyout) Terance Mann (release/buyout) Lou Williams (flip for pick) Kelly Olynyk (release/buyout) Luke Kennard (flip for pick) The Rockets take nothing back going beyond next season... might need to throw in a #1 pick to Clippers to take Wall's large contract... likely would recoup that pick from Kennard/Williams who have positive trade value on expiring deals. Result: PG Beverley / Porter Jr / Exum SG Gordon / Nunn / Harris / Brown SF Tate / House / McLemore PF Porter Jr / Martin Jr C Wood / Bol Bol Ultimately leading to: PG Kevin Porter Jr SG Kendrick Nunn SF Kenyon Martin Jr PF Michael Porter Jr C Christian Wood 6th Man: Eric Gordon I'd like to also point out in 2022-2023 season this Rockets team would have 2 max contract slots assuming Nunn doesn't cost much... Porter would be a free agent but his cap hold wouldn't be much. This would put them a year away from a super team... possible free agents that season: James Harden (player option) Kevin Durant (player option) Bradley Beal (player option) Jimmy Butler (player option) Kawhi Leonard Julius Randle Zach LaVine Aaron Gordon Luka Doncic (RFA) Deandre Ayton (RFA) Jaren Jackson (RFA) Collin Sexton (RFA) Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (RFA) And the Rockets would have most of their picks they acquired... could see Harden bring Durant here if Brooklyn turns south with Kyrie: PG Kevin Porter Jr SG James Harden SF Kevin Durant PF Michael Porter Jr C Christian Wood Not likely, but you put yourself in position for the possibility... maybe Kawhi and Butler? Who knows...
I was stupidly talked out of wanting Simmons in the Harden trade. I feel like a freaking tool. I'm on the boat of understanding not keeping JA though. Just wish we got something else from the Cavs instead of the Bucks pick. All hindsight though. We could draft a Brandon Clark with the Bucks pick next year.. who knows.
Kiss those MPJ trade dreams goodbye. That kid is going nowhere, Nuggets love him again. For good reason. May as well target Bol Bol instead.
Love the passion in here, and while your right in saying it's not super likely. It isn't a bad end game at all. More picks. Future focus team, with Max slots available. Well done.
And so many people still trashing the guy. He's been better this year without having to defer to Harden. Well, he's been better because without Harden the other Rockets suck hard, and EGO stands out; but he's still showed improvement.
He should have been the starting 2 next to Harden his whole tenure and the Rockets should have focused hard on getting a superstar Three or Four. Imagine if they drafted Kawhi instead of Morris.
Don't even start on the Kawhi s**t. That was Morey's biggest blunder, when the analytics blinded him to the obvious. Morey's hot targets for which he would have given up the farm in the drafts? Rubio. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Marcus Smart. Any guy 6'8" or 6'9" who can be taught to shoot from the 3 point line. Etcetera.
BLOW IT UP!! https://tradenba.com/trades/p3AIYI6MG (This is obviously a joke buuutttt after playing around i wasn't too mad at what I came up with haha) Rockets get young guys, take on a bad contract in Kemba (who may actually be a bit better for a rebuilding Rockets team than Wall), get a guy in Collins that they can pay with all the money coming off the books. Thybulle who would be a monster off the bench, along with Dunn and Johnson. Wont get in the way of a current rebuild. Kemba/Dunn KPJ/Thybulle Tate/KJ Martin Collins/Johnson Wood/Bradley 6ers get a bunch of shooters who can hold their own in defense, may be enough to get them past the Nets? Also all 3 are Morey guys Simmons/Seth/Maxey Gordon/Shake House/Ferg Tobi/Tucker Embiid/Dwight Celtics have a Kemba problem. Wall can control the tempo, pass isolate and more importantly, defend. Has more per yes, but one year less than Kemba. Wall/Prichard Smart/Langford Brown/G.Williams? Tatum/Timelord Thompsom/Theis The Dipo to Hawks thing has been done to death. They get a bit of compensation in Nesmith too. Trae/Rondo Dipo/Huerter/Bogdanovic Hunter/Nesmith Gallo/Reddish Clint/Okongwu Mavs swap out need. This is a part that could totally be left off. I just like the idea of Johnson on the Rockets haha Luka/Burke THJ/Richardson Danny Green/Josh Green Kristaps/Kleber Powell/WCS
I’m just not as down as most are on kemba.he’s been playing really good the last 10 games or so and even when his shooting was off his body was moving well and he looked to have burst and that’s something he did not have in the bubble at all. not saying I don’t think we should move on but I’d wait until the offseason because any return right now wouldn’t be worth his value to the team if he stays healthy and continues to play at or close to this level. I’d also suspect if he stays healthy he’ll be easier to move in the offseason when teams have cap space and have struck out in free agents. Definitely not all roses with him but it’s not as dire as many make it out to be imo. At worst we have him for 1 more year and then he’s a 33m expiring contract which can always be a trade chip. Def not dire enough to attach 2 Firsts to move him and if he continues to play like he has the last 10 games or so not worried about him at all really as he’ll be moveable in the summer
I'm by no means a Kemba expert. But he doesn't seem to be the iso player Wall is.. mainly letting Brown and Tatum do their thing. Would he be better in this "rebuild" than Wall?
