Certainly interesting but I don't know if it changes anything? We know he wanted out and he was acting out to force the trade.

Harden knows it takes a Super Team to win in this era.
No one Superstar has won a championship since Dream in 94’.
I dont blame him for leaving, after all he didn't create this super team ideology but he could of left on better terms.
Some blame lands on Ferntits for being a broke A$$ owner!!!

The Sixers deal was better. Imagine if we draft Cunningham and paired him with Ben Simmons. I also liked the Miami Deal. Herro, Robinson, Nunn are good, young players. We could have kept 1 or 2 of those guys and trade the other for more first round picks

I pretty much felt the same as James, even with a bad Westbrook trade, with Morey I felt we were still in good hands. The truth is the franchise was done as soon as he was on his way out and James felt the same. It is still unbelievable that Tilman lost Morey. The package we got is a complete joke and this franchise will be bottom 5 for as long as Tilman owns it.

how would we draft Cade if we traded for Ben? I don’t love Ben but he is at least impactful and usually healthy. They wouldn’t be this bad with him.

I really think this part is bad journalism:

“"I would say what's super exciting about this deal is it gives us flexibility," Houston general manager Rafael Stone told reporters afterward. "In the NBA, picks, especially high picks, are the best currency.

That's good spin. But recent history would suggest multiple superstars are the best currency in the NBA. Just ask the Lakers and the Golden State Warriors. The Nets have a near-certain future of relevance and deep playoff runs, and the Rockets have a wholly uncertain outlook.”

Yeah... no ****. The Rockets didn’t have the options of multiple all stars or high picks. They had to make a deal.

more interesting is the discussion of whether the earlier apparent Nets offer was better and that’s impossible to say because the article doesn’t indicate what picks the Nets were including in that player heavy package.

knowing what we now know about LaVert and it knowing what if anything a Oladipo can turn Into, and knowing what we know about the potential to now tank towards a top 4 pick... I’m good with what they got.

Yeah- but he said 1 super star team. That Detroit team was really a no super star team- which is even weirder, historically.
You could also say the same about the Spurs in 2014. Leonard wasn't a super star yet and Duncan, Ginobli and Parker were through being superstars. But yea, if the point is that you can go back 31 years and in 27 of those years it took at least 2 super stars to win a title it's pretty obvious Harden was fighting a losing game here by the end.

Every other offer looks good now cuz the Rox dont get to see any major fruits of the trade till 3 years from now when Nets big 3 is washed.

Just like Celtics to Nets trade its a long term trade not an instant one. None of Herro, Robinson and Nunn figure to be more than role players. Thats not a good return for an MVP. Philly could be better if Morey was willing to give up 3+ picks in addition to Thybulle and Simmons but Rox just used them for leverage.

From the story here Houston still loved James Harden and sent him to the team he really wanted to be on which is the Nets. There seemed to be no other serious offers as other teams were just mainly used for leverage.

They wouldn't have been in the position of getting someone like a Cunningham with Simmons.

All of this was fairly obvious watching even from the outside.

According to CF, Simmons is worse than any player that ever lived.

No jumpshot or lack of 3 point attempts at age of 24 means he will never never ever EVER improve.

That means Simmons would have tanked the Rockets even worse than 12 game losing streak.

Rockets would have tanked forever with Ben Simmons and CF would have all the high lottery picks to their hearts content.

If the Rockets nab a top 4 pick, they made the right trade. It’s a giant risk because of 52% but There’s nothing like having elite talent with rookie money and no pre existing aversion to coming here. Simmons didn’t want to come.
