Yet the article YOU posted showed there were studies that DID prove them to be effective. To which you responded "it's all a guess" to which you responded "NPIs don't work". You're either trolling or an idiot.
The article you posted shows that NPIs do work. The data you mentioned is incomplete, doesn't take into effect state population, density, testing availability, medical facilities, travel from within the United States as well as out of the United States, and other things. They have been shown to be effective. It is as simple as that.
CDC and experts are a joke? No, believing opening up to 100% and stripping off mask mandates is smart when Texas is nowhere close to vaccinating everyone is a joke. Only someone who would support a lying narcissist like Trump could try and twist facts like you do to try and defend Abbott's decision. It isn't smart. It's just another way to do something the GOP way, that usually involves putting people at more risk unnecessarily. Were you a no masker? Did you believe Trump's lies? Did you believe the vote was stolen?
I agree with the sentiment. Requiring wearing a mask to deal with a pandemic isn't an imposition on freedom nor is it unconstitutional. The Constitution does say that government can act in the general welfare of the country.
Not once have I resorted to name calling in this thread. You start throwing out names I no longer engage. Think about this, you have competing studies that turn different results, that leads me to believe these NPIs are not fully proven, it's guess work. This is my last response to you here. Enjoy the liberty of getting to choose whether you wear a mask or not. Good day.
I'm seeing on CBS News that St. Arnold's is planning on falling CDC guidance and require masks at their tap room. Target and Kroger are going to do the same.
You're dismissing evidence that runs counter to your argument even when it's in the very link you provide. Instead of understanding the methodology behind those studies you're just dismissing them as guess work because they don't support your view point. That's called Confirmation Bias.
But but... where will we get such insightful statements like... "gee, my data shows exactly the opposite of what I say it does"...
You're just virtue signaling at this point. But...but... people died! Yes, they did and it is very unfortunate. Some form of mask mandates and lockdowns have been in place for a year. The effectiveness of the mandates are not certain. If they were effective, this would be a lot less of a concern.
Complain all you want...the mandate is lifted and you can't do anything about it. Businesses can decide for themselves, people can decide for themselves. It's amazing how anti-liberty people can be.
Only one person actually reads these things and then a opinion piece is written and the link goes round. Right @Os Trigonum
It’s also just a silly fight. Sometimes you need to pick your battles and fighting wearing masks is a weird one.
So who is providing actual perspective from the other side. It's very clear you have a surface knowledge and are just regurgitating talking points, your own article refuted what you said. This is a safe place for Dems? have you not seen me and other Dems going at it?
gee, half a million people dying is "virtue signaling". I should have expected some lame right wing dismissal... and I guess "cancel culture" is being used for equally important issues as Mr Potato head and Dr Seuss books. But keeping in mind the data has shown mask wearing has been effective (even the "data" you presented). Which is probably why medical experts have been promoting their use and are criticizing governors wheels latest action to kill Texans...
Bro, you actually don't have competing studies. The data is overwhelming regarding mask use. I guess in my head it's hard to understand why are you selective about the data you believe? I'm fine reading whatever data you present me, I interpret and provide you my opinion. I think the majority of us don't have an agenda, we just want to get back to normality without the anxiety of potentially causing harm to ourselves or others. I know you are talking about liberties, but there are plenty of rules and laws the government imposes on you and for the most part you fall in line. Why is this one such an infringement on you? Is it because you are not concerned of being in the 1 - 2% of individuals that die because you are a relatively healthy individual? Why not discuss how the government infringes your rights on the following: Wearing a seat belt Car insurance, liability is a minimum Attaining permits to build on your property Noise ordinances Fireworks restrictions Maximum occupancy limits I could keep going, but you get my point. I'd like to understand your position on those things. Hell, maybe you are angry about that and you want to live in a libertarian alternate universe where the government doesn't tell you what to do.
Ah yes... maga scoreboarding, celebrating an idiotic political move by the retrumplican governor wheels. Celebrate your liberty I guess... since mandated mask wearing was such a huge loss of liberty.
