Here's a question for Abbott and all those who seem to think masks don't work. If you require surgery is it fine for the surgeon and nurses to take off their masks? I mean, if masks don't prevent germs from spreading, then no worry about getting an infection from them when they perform that surgery, right? Better yet, don't bother putting on fresh scrubs either.
No one will stop you from wearing a mask. I am sure most people will continue to don them. Calm down.

They already tried this back in May, with logic such as this. It failed. Things have improved despite the vaccine being only distributed to 7%. The logical thing would be to get distribution numbers up (as is expected over the next month) and then phase in reopening... but no, we have to have everything open right now, right away, because science has no role in making these decisions...

You think masking is a stronger psychological impact than number of cases and death? You might want to check out Asian countries with standard usage of masking and their very low number of cases and death. Return to normal happens once covid is defeated and a good way to defeat that isn’t about not wearing masks, but mass vaccination. Wearing masks is an easy simple thing that all elementary kids have no problem with all school day long to slow spread, yet a few people can’t handle it while buying a beer. It’s one of the most psychological weird thing in “adult” behavior. We probably should have a psychological disorder named for the behavior.
