This is really new news and has been going on for awhile. Side story: When I was in HK a few years ago I went to go see Ironman III expecting to see the scenes they added just for the PRC market. Instead they showed the US version. My dad said it was because of the "One country Two systems" arrangement where HK would show US versions of movies.
