Tin Cup was filmed in Kingwood, if that counts.

Bad New Bears - Breaking training
    Apollo 13

I think it counts more if the movie actually acknowledges the city is Houston. Robocop 2 was still set in Detroit, IIRC. I forgot if Rushmore acknowledged being in Texas or not... I think they did.

I'd put Boyhood at the top and Urban Cowboy above Reality Bites.

Reality bites. Not sure if it was even a good movie, I just remember having the biggest crush on Wynona Ryder.

I haven't seen Reality Bites in 15 years, same with Urban Cowboy.

I did watch Rush a while ago, and that's a rough movie. Great performances by the 2 leads, and also by Greg Allman as a total creep of a scumbag redneck drug dealer in Pasadena.

    I'll allow it: Definitive List

    1a/1b/1c: Rushmore/Terms of Endearment/Boyhood
    4: Reality Bites
    5a/5b: Urban Cowboy/Rush

Did nobody else love The Swarm as kids?

Completely forgot about Urban Cowboy. It had serious cultural impact. I was actually thinking about it this morning when I was driving by some oil storage tanks.

Nope. Both Urban Cowboy and Rush go above Reality Bites. Both of those were really well written and acted and they hold up. Reality Bites is pretty mediocre.

Is The Swarm the one about the killer bees in the Astrodome? If so, I'm pretty sure they had "Houston" scenes with mountains in the background.

Agree. Haven't seen the other two in @Buck Turgidson 's ratings. I'm not the demographic.

You're not the demographic for movies?

Like I said, I haven't seen Reality Bites in a long time, or Urban Cowboy for that matter. RB I remember liking, UC never did anything for me.

I think you should put together the Definitive BBS List (that nobody will b!tch about) of Houston Filmed Movies.

And yes, the Swarm was the hilariously bad killer bee Astrodome movie. It's awesome, and was filmed in Houston and Cali.

Not only is Robocop 2 the best film (on it's own) filmed in Houston, it also includes Wortham center and City hall as highlights.

I don't think anybody has mentioned Futureworld which is also pretty good. It's no Robocop 2 which is far superior to that Rushmore, Reality Bites crap.

Another one is Arlington Road. A friend of mines house, that I used to hang out with in high school, was a few streets away from the film site for the movie. I recall there being huge tarp/tent like things over portions of the neighborhood to film the movie.

And I believe the movie Twins with Arnold and Danny had a lot of parts filmed in Houston.
