The team is in full tank mode chasing the 1st pick .... and you are suggesting we trade 4 players who have no interest in winning for players who are looking to play hard for a better contract?
As it was in the beginning of the season, having a healthy Wood and a version of Harden that actually cared and wasn't actively sabotaging the team, it was. The fact that Harden destroyed it doesn't change anything. You can look at the shattered remains of what was once a stained glass window and scoff at the idea that it was once art, but you'd be just as wrong.
Are you talking about the sht ton of threads and comments about how we suck without Harden? Go ahead and use the search function... Even with Harden I don't think we would have played much better. The recent streak of 11 games is showing something else is going on...we are better than what the records reflects...
It is showing that tanking is going on.....but we knew that when the team mercifully cut Boogie so he could seek out a contender. The team doesn't want to win games as it would be counter-productive to the franchise's future.
ROFLMAO!!!! Stop man. No one player was good enough to win a Championship with this team. Hell, guys like Lebron, Kawhi & Durant would scoff and laugh at this roster en route to another team. They all want to play with other proven star players and we don’t have one. Was Harden a MASSIVE jackass on the way out? Yes of course. The guy asked for a trade and should have gotten one after MDA & Morey were shown the door. But he wasn’t wrong about this mix of players, coaches and ownership NOT being good enough to win a title. The guy is 31& hears the clock ticking. After Tillman start trading players and draft picks to stay out of the tax, it was time for a reboot anyways ( since Fertitta wasn’t going all in to win a title).
Again, before Wood went down, the Rockets had a better net rating than the Nets did....if you added a version of Harden that cares and isn't actively sabotaging the team, you have a team that has a shot at winning a championship. There wouldn't be many duos in the league better than Wood and Harden, so the team would have been competitive for many years to come Turns out being the best player on his team was too tough for Harden, so he decided to go play Chris Bosh on a big 3 and that's fine.....but it doesn't change what the Rockets could have had. I still laugh at people who think that dumping Ariza, immediately coming off him being the worst player on the team in the playoffs vs the Warriors, is the reason the team was doomed.
people that wanted to tank are now in here mad at tanking and taking the most glee in dunking on the team with the I told ya so's Before Wood got hurt, they were mad. Now they're spamming all the positive threads that were created when Rockets were riding high.
Wood has to be durable to be a star man. I like the kid but he is brittle as hell. He ain't ready yet.
I don't think some CFs were aware/remember how bad a tank season looks. It's probably going to be a few years or more before the Rockets are being hated by the media (which is what you want/expect when a houston team is relevant). Right now there's no reason to even mention the Rockets in a championship/even playoff discussion since there is currently a barred up and closed window. Hopefully this is a short term tank since the team regularly makes the playoffs but I'm not so optimistic with the current ownership.
Davis has literally never made it through a season without missing time to injury before.....I thought you had to be durable to be a star? If Harden was a stronger willed person, perhaps Harden could have done with Wood what Lebron did with Davis, we'll never know because Harden isn't that caliber of player.
The continuing mental hoops of cf's. So now Lebron is the prime example of someone Harden needs to emulate and have more will. I mean this a bit ironic in what he needed to actually win. How come he didn't just stay where he was!
It's hilarious how some people try to act like it's some complicated chicken and egg game where we suck cause the team quit and the team quit cause we suck. They can't accept the truth that we suck cause we lost the one man holding this trainwreck of a franchise (since the Tilly acquisition) together. That win streak was a mirage. They had that "new team, let's get it" energy and were playing at 200% capacity for a few weeks but have come back to earth. Even with Wood we're balls. Every player now except Tate is individually worse than they were with during the streak.
