Some excerpts below from the article,
"The Republican revolt against democracy, explained in 13 charts"

The Republican Party is the biggest threat to American democracy today. It is a radical, obstructionist faction that has become hostile to the most basic democratic norm: that the other side should get to wield power when it wins elections.

The story they tell is sobering: At every level, from the elite down to rank-and-file voters, the party is permeated with anti-democratic political attitudes and agendas. And the prospects for rescuing the Republican Party, at least in the short term, look grim indeed.

“The MAGA movement,” Blum and Parker write, “is a clear and present danger to American democracy.”

“Republicans who believe Democrats cheated in the election (83 percent in our study) were far likelier to endorse post-election violence.”

When you believe the opposing party to be an enemy, the costs of letting them win become too high, and anti-democratic behavior — rigging the game in your favor, even outright violence — starts to become thinkable.

The Republican Party is one of the most anti-democratic political parties in the developed world.

The higher a voter scores on the ethnic antagonism scale, the more likely they are to support anti-democratic ideas. “The strongest predictor by far of these antidemocratic attitudes is ethnic antagonism.”

The charts and explanation listed in the article:

    1) Trump’s supporters have embraced anti-democratic ideas
    2) Republicans are embracing violence
    3) Republicans see Democrats as something worse than mere rivals
    4) Republicans dislike
    compromise
    5) The Republican Party is a global outlier — and not in a good way
    6) The Republican turn against democracy begins with race
    7) Partisanship causes Republicans to justify anti-democratic behavior
    8) The crucial impact of the right-wing media
    9) Republicans have an unpopular policy agenda
    10) Some of the most consequential Republican attacks on democracy happen at the state level
    11) The national GOP has broken government
    12) Republicans didn’t care when Trump abused his power
    13) Trump and Trumpism could return in 2024

There is nothing democratic at all about career bureaucrats and employees in places like the State Department, Dept of Justice, Pentagon, Intel Agencies, large corporations, and the Media who collectively believe they run the country by "controlling" public opinion and influencing events. This is the swamp that Trump speaks about. If you really want to restore power to the people, you would be staunchly opposed to these unelected special interests running the country. Trump represents the greatest threat to these special interests -- and the greatest opportunity to restore power to the voters of this country. That's why the established interests oppose him so greatly.

You have fallen victim to "the programming". It will be hard for most to accept this conclusion, because of how deeply the divide & control media has programmed them. That's where we are at today in society. Ceding power to the media, intel agencies, and admistrative agencies in Washington DC is as anti-democratic as it gets, yet people scream that we should be doing exactly that. Nah, I'll take the side of democracy.

    GOOD DAY

One of the more deep-dive research and data intensive things I’ve ever seen in the D&D. Even if I don’t always agree with the extrapolations, the links to primary studies are really interesting.

    thanks, OP!

Keep drinking your Kool-Aid. Country Club Trump and his sidekicks in crime are the swamp. He just tried to deflect from the truth.
