If there was proof that Lin made it up, then yes, he should be suspended. But not finding evidence that someone said it doesn't prove that Lin made it up. This is the way our country works...

 

Lin is just trying to speak out against the spike in assaults and killing of elderly Asian Americans across the country. Unfortunately, media and everyone is just focused on his sentence about the NBA and his true intention is getting lost.

 

Mostly been happening in the bay area and New York, only story I heard in Texas is the stabbing in Sam's club.

Why bullshit? Plenty of examples where an accuser can't prove something happened and nothing can be done to punish the accuser because of the absence of evidence one way or the other. Happens in sexual assault cases all the time.

Some of that comes from NY and CA having better channels for victims to report the attacks than in other parts of the country (where language may be an impediment to reporting).

That's one way to think of it. The other way that some of us in the Asian-American community think of it is that our community on the whole has been silent for too long when it comes to being on the wrong end of attacks and racism. Honestly, I think a basketball thread is the wrong place to have this kind of discussion, but am happy to continue if you're into it.

...and fwiw, I'm not comparing the racist-name-calling to sexual assault...I'm comparing the circumstance of lack of evidence and how it plays out when looking at accusations and penalties. Accuser is just as deserving of due-process.

 

I am a self-respecting Asian-American whose life experience makes it very easy for me to believe that he has been on the receiving end of these kinds of racist name-calling. Do I think he is handling it the right way? No...I would have handled it differently. But that doesn't make him a trash person.

Well no...Jussie Smollet was proven to have made it up. Until it has been proven that Lin is lying, he's just like the countless number of people who were not able to prove they were on the receiving end of an attack.

 

It does make him a trash person. This is what he always does. He has a voice and can use it. If he didn't intend to then there's no point. Lin is about himself. Unless he outs the racists he's a waste of space and a liar in my book
