It’s not out of the realm (if he accepts it) to see a short-term deal that runs through the end of the Altuve/Bregman contracts.

Correa is still young and in position to land the huge contract (presuming he stays healthy), and the team gets to optimize the primes of their studs.

Don’t know why you have doubts. Crane has shown he’s willing to hand out big extensions and none is bigger than Correa.

Yeah man, I hear you. But I'm still going to reserve enthusiasm on this one.

I don’t see them extending Correa or LMJ. Too much risk in both cases for Click to stomach. I don’t know how Correa will hit this season, but I have a feeling LMJ puts together a strong season.

Ideally "legitimate big league starters" are good for 180 innings or more, not 120.

If LMJ and Correa are willing to price their risk into the extensions, then Click should be willing to make a deal. LMJ has the talent of a #2 starter but his durability and consistency issues should price him like a low #3/high #4 starter. He hasn't put up more than a 2.8 fWAR season yet.

Correa has a better relative track record, but he still has similar problems and shouldn't be expecting Tatis or Lindor money.

Risks with any pitcher. JV’s extension probably looked good at the time... now they’ll be paying $60 million (pro rated) for one start.

LMJ should be healthy and at the full recovery stage after TJ surgery. Needs to perform to the level of his confidence.

I'd love for him to perform like we all think he can. For all the hype of the organizational pitching dev system, we still haven't produced a consistent top level starter. LMJ can and should be the shining star of that development process.

Framber is likely to be that guy.

There aren't many aces developed and most of it starts with a lot of talent prior to development. Judging a team by output from what came in seems to be a better judge than only by homegrown aces (quantity over one single great outcome)

Keuchel, Cole, McHugh, Verlander as a bounceback, LMJ, Framber, Urquidy, Javier, Folty, Velazquez, and Hader all show success for Astros development process..some at majors, some at minors. Appel, Martes, and Paulino are the only busts for development though I think Paulino was more injury than coaching. Maybe JBB and Whitley join them.
