Nah not after he acted like a prima donna over the summer. I lost respect for him. Acting like a diva and then giving us 0 point games and dumb turnovers.
Agreed. What he has in his game already can't really be taught, and he's really now just developing his game professionally. I think there's clear opportunity for development over the next couple years -people don't even start hitting their prime till late 20's anyway. i like the comps to PJ Tucker and Mario, and even Chuck Hayes. But honestly i'm not sure any of those really capture Tate; he's a very unique tweener. It will be interesting to evaluate him a year or so from now and see how much improvement there is. His personal backstory tells you that you should bet on him. And let's just remember, the rockets have moved on from players too early in the past. Guys like Covington, Wood, (dare i say Jeremy Lin -i still wake up in cold sweats thinking about the LOF takeover of clutchfans ...dark times). But point is, it's nice to take some bets on players and develop their talent and see what they become. Clint was really the last player the rockets developed from early. We need to do more of that.
Our development system has been garbage. Harden would have been traded in his second year if the Rockets have drafted him. We don't seem to feel we have any responsibility to develop players they are on their own . . .. . out G League was winning championship BUT NO PLAYERS DESERVED TO MOVE UP TO THE MAIN ROSTER AND GET *ANY* PLAYING TIME?!?!?!??!?!?!?! Rocket River
He's undersized (limited) as a wing. He does everything you ask a guard to do I think you play him as a guard and he's no longer undersized and the potential is much higher. He's actually shooting .328 from 3 so far , league average is something like .350. It's not going to take a huge leap.
Tate is our swiss army knife...not one elite skill but good or very good in several categories. Drive, shooting, creation, defense.
It's cause we were always rushing. We were a championship level team that needed to find guys who can play right away. Now we can take it nice and slow and let these guys develop properly.
