There is no real justification to not be advocating for tanking right now. Tanking gives them their best chance at keeping their top 4 protected pick. The alternative to tanking isn’t playoffs, it’s being 12th or 13th in the West. They need to trade guys like Dipo and Tucker, and in the meantime, they need to keep losing and climbing the tank standings. not wanting to see them lose 8 straight because you’d prefer them losing 6 out of 10 instead just doesn’t make any sense...in both cases, they’re still trash with the only difference being that u prefer seeing them with lower odds of keeping their pick
if that not for that meaningless 6 game win streak, we’d be right down there with Detroit chasing the Wolves for 1st in the tank standings if we end up not staying in the top 4 at season’s end, that will likely be what doomed us
11th in the West still has a higher than 0% of a top 4. That’s my whole point. Anything from 8 worst on up is good enough odds. This isn’t tanking the team sucks. I’m advocating trading every asset outside our own picks, Brooklyn picks, Tate, Wood and KPJ. If they are going to suck I want young players to root for that’s it.
It literally doesn’t matter if it’s actually tanking or not. This team isn’t good and not going to win many games anyway. Nobody should be shocked at that. It’s just the folks that thought this team was still good and able to make the playoffs that are against it. But that’s complete nonsense. You maximize your chances of getting that pick cause you’re not winning anyway. Whether people consider it tank or not doesn’t really matter. They suck. Nobody should be against trying to find that future player when you have an opportunity to get into that tier of the draft. you’re certainly not going to find that player through trade or free agency coming here. Atm, This is literally the only avenue at giving yourself a shot at something significant for the future. Makes no sense if anyone is opposed to that

yup...tanking or just plain sucking is pretty much a semantics game at this point...bottom line is they’re trash, and that’s what they’ll be whether they’re actively tanking or trying to compete and just being too garbage to win any games this year, and probably the following 2 seasons as well, it is in the team’s best interest to get high lotto picks people need to stop being so shortsighted this is not some 50 win team, and because they’re good, but not good enough to win a title, people want to blow it up and see a rebuild...ironically, this was the case with many during the Harden era, but they magically stopped posting nearly as much once the post-Harden reality hit this is a bottom tier team that needs to take full advantage of them being this trash
This isn’t hard. My point, is that right THIS second, we have a 48% chance at being in the top 4. You’re against tanking and want the team to win a few more games here and there for what? To drop from a 48% chance of keeping our pick to a 32% chance instead? That doesn’t make any sense. Why lower our chances by winning meaningless games? Also, every pro-tanker is on board with trading all assets outside of Wood, Tate, KPJ, and picks. Doing so will make us a worse team, bettering our tank position organically.
Honestly, I do believe that when healthy this team could compete for the playoffs. But "when healthy" just does not seem to be in the cards for this current roster. Hell, last season and this one are just weird, man. I get trading away players for future potential...I don't like it for the current product I'm watching; but I get it.
Right now we are at 42% chance of a top 4 pick because we have moved up to 5th in the lottery... had we won, we would have fallen to 32% chance.... a Wizard win and we slide into 4th and have a 48% chance.... Ideally we finish 3rd worst and get a 52% chance at a top 4 pick and a 14% chance at getting the #1 pick. Yes it would hurt to get the 3rd worst record and then the lottery ball come back at #5... but I will take that chance... because if we get a top 4 pick it could be a franchise altering pick...
I’m fine with being a bottom team. I’d rather watch them win. Rooting for loses is obnoxious when there is 40 more games to go, . Obviously the best outcome is a top 4 pick and a young player like John Collins or MPJ traded for using the assets the team has. I hate coming on here and seeing the same crowd cheerleading for loses it’s toxic bullshit I don’t want to read. It’s the same people who were cheering for Harden to be traded and Watson with the Texans. The same guys always underestimate the players value because they feed on being negative. During the 6 game win streak, The Rockets had the top 5 easiest strength of schedule. Once Wood comes back, the Rockets will get to their tougher stretch. They haven’t played the Clippers, Warriors, Nets, Bucks, Sixers, or Celtics yet. Only played Denver and Portland once.
That 6 game win streak was a bunch of nonsense. Half the teams they played had there best guys out due to Covid protocol or resting
There was a tanking thread with a poll back in January that showed approx 60% of fans on here were in support of tanking. Now that we’re about to be in March and on a 8 game losing streak, I’m sure that number has gone up to 80% by now. So I guess you’re tired of 80% of the board. At the end of the day, tanking is best for this franchise long-term. Stay patient.
