Exactly, I wouldn’t have taken MCW, because he had no shooting ability and he was awkward in my opinion. Would have passed on Fultz as well. I was much higher on Jayson Tatum coming out of college. I would have had both Covington and Tatum. Not to mention other guys they have drafted like Korkmaz, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, Shamet, Shake Milton, and now Maxey. They built those assets up and turned them over for multiple picks resulting in some of these fringe players. I’m not suggesting multiple years of tanking like Philly obviously did. I suggest tanking the rest of this season because we will have heavy player turnaround in the offseason anyway. Might as well bring in younger, more athletic players that have a higher ceiling. Ralph Sampson could only take us so far.......him being out for a year brought us Olajuwon. Got us over the top from being perennial 8th seed material to NBA finals. David Robinson was out for a season.....then they got Tim Duncan. Put them over the top and out of the “Just Friends Zone” of the NBA......perennial 8th seed to just being on the bubble. Houston has its flat ship in C Wood. It just needs to add more young talent with high ceilings. Last night I looked at at NBA draft.net where they had us drop from picks #4, #14 and #18 to #7, #8, and #26. They have us getting pick #7 SG 6’6” Moses Moody......I like very much. I move Kevin Porter from shooting guard to where I had Cade Cunningham. Big PG Then they have us getting: pick #8 Power Forward 6’9” Scottie Barnes......I would pass and look for better at another position. Best available SF or Center because I have C Wood getting 30 minutes as starter at PF. Draft.net probably wants C Wood to remain at Center. I would take Charles Bassey (center) that they have slotted at number 10. Then they have us getting: pick # 26 SG 6’5” Ochai Agbaji ......I don’t care for more SG’s or 6’5” and under players if the Rockets have Wall, Eric Gordon, Mason Jones, Kevin Porter and rookie Moses Moody. We should be set at PG/SG, for next season at least. This is the type of pick we land being a 3 seed or better......which is where the Nets may be for years. Rockets (21/22) PG) Wall.....................Kevin Porter / Mason Jones SG) EGo....................Moses Moody SF) Tate.....................Free Agent.....(or draft pick #26) PF) C Wood...............Free Agent.....(or draft pick #26) C) Free Agent............Bassey / Patton
Can we just get the rebuild going already? Holding on to Tucker, Gordon, and Dipo is just prolonging the inevitable process that we need to go through. If we’re going to lose anyways, I’d much rather be watching young guys developing than these dudes. Trade Wall too next year or as soon as he proves he can stay healthy to a desperate playoff team for smaller more easily tradable contracts and whatever else you can get.
Ummm, not many bigger markets than Houston. When is the last time an athlete period left Houston for a 'bigger' market? It just doesn't happen. Houston is a 2nd tier market, it's not LA or NYC, but neither is every other place. The whole "No one wants to play in Houston" is a complete myth that isn't historically accurate at all. Wood might leave but it sure won't be because he wants to go play in a bigger market, it'll likely be because the Rockets won't want to give him the max and some other team will.
Harden literally just left. There's plenty of reason to believe Wood by 27/28 leaves for a bigger market like LA. especially if he gets better and builds relationships a long the way. like i said he'll still be paid well and can play in a bigger market. going from out of the league, det, hou and somewhere like LA and getting paid damn well. It's very plausible that this is nothing more than a stop gap for him that I believe
But Harden didn't leave because he wanted to escape the market of Houston for New York. Also, if the Lakers want Wood then that means he's worth the max and a major star, otherwise the Lakers will just wait for the next young MVP to shake loose, they can do much better than the Wood.
didn't say he did. he left to win sure but still a bigger market to add. That can be true for Wood as well and be paid like I said when he's in a absolute prime age at 27/28 to maximize himself. He certainly isn't winning here
We only need two more players to be contenders. When is Lebron, Durant, Harden, Kawhi, Embid's contract up?
My point is Houston isn't losing players because of its market size. Sure, Wood can leave to go win elsewhere but really that is getting ahead of ourselves here. We don't even know if Wood is worth keeping at all costs. I hate the whole mentality of "Everyone will just leave anyway," because with that logic why even draft young players? They will leave for LA anyway, right? Thankfully, Houston isn't OKC, players are not going to leave the city unless the organization (like they did with Harden) give them a reason to do so and the Lakers for example can't fit everyone under their cap.
it doesn't have to be solely bc of market. I just initially said this is a stop gap for him. there's still plenty of questions sure but I don't think it's that crazy.
What if Deaaron Fox wants to go to Houston and Plays with Kevin Porter Jr and Christian Wood, JaeSean Tate, KJ Martin Jr. RFA Mason Jones I hope they sign Sterling Brown, Armoni Brooks, Brodric Thomas
Bringing up his past means nothing. I said he WILL BE a elite player But this is coming from someone who said Melo wasn't good enough to ever play again, that was 2vyears ago smh
welp, that does it for KP Jr. The now equivalent of holic calling guys like rubio and thon maker the future elite, is trying to say KP Jr will be elite. pretty much confirms he's going to suck. ouch
