Not disagreeing with H94......just that “the process” was kinda done in a dumb way in Philly if you ask me, which prolonged the process. They drafted: 13/14 M Carter-Williams (11th pk of the 1st round) 14/15 Joel Embiid (3rd pk of the 1st round).......didn’t play for first two seasons ..........Nerlens Noel (6th pk of the 1st round) ..........Jerami Grant (2nd round) 15/16 Jahill Okafor (3rd pk of the 1st round) ..........Reshaun Holmes (2nd round) 16/17 Ben Simmons (1st pk of the 1st round).....didn’t play 1st season. 17/18 Markelle Fultz (1st pk of the 1st round) So why did they keep drafting Centers? In vogue at the time I guess. But then they missed on MCW/Fultz Invested too much in injured players starting their NBA careers on the bench. My hope is the Rockets can pick better, share the wealth (not pick just one position so much) and develop by way of John Lucas and Coach Silas. ___________________________________ I would go Cade Cunningham: set at Point Guard with Wall / Cade Cunningham / Mason Jones Then Roko Prkacin PF: set with Wood moved to PF to alleviate the daily grind of playing Center / then Roko. Then Corey Kispert: quick release NBA 3-pt range from all areas of the court that can slash/cut to basket at 6’7” height that plays much the same way as Klay Thompson offensively. Good for Silas system. Roster 21/22 PG) Wall................Cade C / Mason Jones [Set for years with Wall getting bumped after a year or so] SG) Eric Gordon...Kevin Porter [Set until EGo contract runs out] (eventually Porter becoming the starter) SF) Tate................Kispert [Set] C Kispert eventually becoming the starter PF) Wood.............Roko Prkacin [Set] C) ?FA?...............? (Justin Patton) ? After paying the rookies; Rockets should have about $35M to spend on filling in the gaps at Center / PF ? / SF ? If the Rockets win the lottery, maybe go a different route over Cade Cunningham. Maybe best Center available?
Would we not have bird rights to him making him eligible to make more money with us which may keep.him with us provided we want him.
That won’t matter when he can still get paid well and move on to a likely bigger market and much better team.
Did I just see a post claiming KPJr is a top 5 talent in the NBA? LMAO. Some people are so delusional on here it’s unreal
You just made a great case for not trading for Collins. I'm all for giving Wood the max if he can stay healthy for the next 2 years. I dont think KPJ will get paid alot on the open market but if they think he will then they need to sign him long term a after next season. Tate will probably move on I could see him getting a nice payday and Stone thinking he can find another Tate in one of the foreign leagues. Agreed about Olidipo and hopefully they can package him with a pick to get a good young player to develop or another 1st rd pick.
in other words you just want more mediocrity and wont even try to win? So now are tru colors revealed behind the mediocrity for years nazis? NICE perhaps you can win with this roster buddy...or a loser mentality is embeded deeply in your bones?
well thats what youll get even if you get top 4 pick 3 years in a row...look at the pelicans minnesota hornets bulls... they can consider themselves lucky if they get even that much wins btw what if la or utah get injured or covided so we beat them in the playoffs?
interesting analysis, but all i see it would result in even more mediocrity even with a lot of luck INCLUDED... you are guaranteed to win nothing so why not try win it all this year? then next year again go for the title? then again the year after that you give it your best shot? its a covid year theres no better opportunity than this for dark horse contenders and mediocre teams GO ALL IN THIS YEAR there may not be such an opportunity to win it all in next few decades
mediocrity is what u are wanting, we tried that sht b4 the harden era, where we refused to tank and never got anywhere. What im suggesting is that we go sht as possible accumulate picks and attempt to try something different. Trying to win with an average team over and over again without ever trying to tank and hope for an agent to magically join us = mediocrity, pre-harden era (not good enough to win, but not bad enough to get a lottery pick), 14th pick hell. losing on purpose or becoming shtty to gather more assets = tanking, we haven't tried this sht in ages, potential to land a rookie superstar. Try to understand the difference before attacking other posters. Mediocrity does not equal tank/sht, casuals tend to get it confused, it's understandable.
This article is like a propaganda piece. I'm an optimist but this was more than a little silly. Neither Wall or Dipo are building blocks for a championship contending team, pretending otherwise helps no one.
We will see I guess. No indication that he would do that but I guess some people can choose to be negative others can just wait and see
Lol. We didn't go all in with Harden, and now u are suggesting we go all in without him? How does one even go all in with an middling/average team? If the front office had your mindset, they r just delaying our chance to recover post harden trade. I am willingly to bet my posting rights against any of u delusional fks, including u that we arent gonna win the ring with this team even if it was a pandemic, so y waste time and just tank. A team of gimpy wall, dipo and cousins isn't gonna cut it. Fans that r content just making it into playoffs just to get ass blasted, sickens me. That type of mindset is what leads to actual mediocrity. A team that is never good enough to win it all, but not sht enough to tank. It's just there making fans like u happy earning it participation ribbon in the playoffs.
Foundation! If you mean Stone and Silas.....yes. But, most of this roster will be gone over the next couple of years. We are in a full bore rebuild, and the sooner folks come to grips with it the better.
Because we have no chance of winning this year. This team is held together by scotch tape and bubble gum. And the bubble gum is the cheap stuff....it’s the 25 cent assorted gumballs not the Wrigley or Juicy Fruit brand. *We have a thin Center that may not hold up to the grind of playing against centers on a daily basis. Playoff will push him to the limit vs Jokic, Marc Gasol, others as each round goes on. *We have a mash unit that has come off severe injuries. We have them because of the discounted rates because of said injuries. Oladipo: is limping his way through, points have steadily gone down each month. Currently 5 games in Feb and scoring about 12 points a game in Feb. Nwaba: major injury recovering from Achilles tear. Cousins: still recovering from Achilles tear. Wall: still recovering from Achilles tear. Out last two years. Can blow out another tire at any moment. *Expiring contracts. Cousins, Oladipo, Nwaba, Sterling Brown, Tucker, Exum are all moving on at season’s end. You are trying to win with players that won’t be here long term. Which means Tilman retools with another ragtag bunch of discounted players next season. Start over again because this group will say discount year is over. Thanks for the rehab recovery sessions, but we want better elsewhere. Tucker the exception, he was insulted he wasn’t given an extension before the world saw he can’t play any more. *Covid bubble helps LeBron. Because he won’t have to travel. And the league will protect LeBron. They always put their prized investment in bubble wrap.......rig it so he gets the rings. Thats more important than a Cinderella Rockets team that traded half their roster at the trade deadline making it out of the 1st round. Not going to happen disclaimer; the making it out of the 1st rd........not the, trade away half the roster part. Might as well start rebuilding with 3 guys on rookie contracts accompanied with Wood+...Wall/EG....sprinkle in a few free agent vets. It beats that, only players willing to come to Houston are free agents that are recovering injured hobbled ragtag group and unknown foreign players like Tate. You are dealing in smoke and mirrors this season. At .400 and you want to go down in flames to do what? Get to the 7th or 8th seed? Be dismantled by Utah or the Lakers or Clippers? This hobbled group can’t match what the 8th seed Knicks did and reach the finals.......the only 8th seed to reach the finals. Not to mention Tilman has to cash in on all those expiring contracts or they walk this offseason and he has nothing to show for it. Even if you get second round picks for them you go for it. Because if they leave in free agency you get no round picks.
The snippets in OP were enough for me not to bother reading it, it sounds kind of hilarious really. Also I think it was morally reprehensible how Harden partied during the pandemic while other people were sacrificing, but LOL at the article saying he suggested there was no talent on the Rockets as a parting shot. He said they couldn't win a championship, which is obviously true. That's completely different from suggesting there is no talent here. Also, judging from the snippets OP posted, the article doesn't talk about the fact that there's no way this squad will possibly stay healthy for consistent periods of time. Finally, my question is a foundation for what exactly? To miraculously build something as good as the squad that took the Warriors to 7, just to immediately cheap out and dismantle it instead of paying money and making the right decisions to get over the hump? I try not to argue with the optimistic fans on here, but actually professional writers posting this **** should know better, and probably do to be honest.
A couple things about the Sixers. First a couple of the selections were made by ownership. For example Hinkie did not want Okafor, he wanted Porzingas to play PF. Part of the reason they took more centers were because they didn’t know if Embiid would ever play. Realistically the Rockets won’t strip down as far as the Sixers did and likely won’t have to.
