Are we anticipating another storm? Why are there lines at walmart and why is everything out of stock?
Repiped with pex last year and no busts. At least one line was frozen for at least 1.5 days ( kitchen faucet cold line that I didn't drip enough), but did not bust.
Mine only covers damage caused by burst pipes and not the actual repair of the pipes themselves. I have Progressive. Little disappointing, but luckily no pipes burst.
When PEX started becoming popular several years ago here in the DFW area, the issue a lot of people had with it was improper installation. It should handle freezing conditions by expanding a bit but even it has limits of freeze/re-refreeze conditions. I recall someone telling me that repeated cycles like that could eventually weaken PEX. From what I recall there are also different types of PEX piping, some with layers that include aluminum, etc.
I lied to you. We have progressive for car insurance, lol. Allied Trust for home insurance. Rest of what I posted is true though .
We have pex and only had to deal with one line freeze that was on a exterior facing wall. My neighbor across the street wasn't so lucky he had a pipe burst. Now that I know how easy it is to turn off the main line I'm going to turn it off any time we go below freezing
Most of the ice in my front lawn is gone. Yesterday everything was under ice/snow. Crazy what 38 degree temps can do. lol. Back down into the low 20's tonight, though. After that, everything looks "normal". Whew. Can't wait to stop dripping these dumb faucets throughout the night.
Meteorologists also hype (and sometimes overhype) things. Houston (or Katy or Sealy) was never getting 20 inches or 7 inches of snow. “Hurricane off the coast of Africa! We really need to watch this! Start preparing now! Katy, you need to evacuate! This could be a dangerous one!” LOL Stop. That’s why I love Eric Berger. Hype free weather, hype free forecast.
So the low pressure is still a thing, right? I ask because I just had a pipe fixed but one of the toilets still isnt working properly and the other one is. So wondering if they didnt do a good job or it's just everybody
Any distribution system (Post Office, gasoline, retailers etc) that requires people has had staffing issues because of road conditions and people just trying to survive living without hot meals, electricity, etc. Have patience and give the distribution systems time to get fully functioning again.
Meteorologist just tell you what computer models spit out most of the time in regards to precipitation. They nailed the Harvey rain forecasts by the way. It wasn’t the snow that caused these problems. It’s the freezing cold that was well forecasted many days in advance.
