He dug his own grave for those stupid harmful contract offloads Why did he have such a big boner for Jeremy Lin? Also out of the left field Aaron Brooks for freckin' Jordan Hamilton. Could have used AB0 in that series against Portland. r****ded infatuation with CBA Mike Harris Sam Dekker over Bobby Portis And don't get me started on Rudy Gay for Shane Battier
We had Chandler on the books for 800k for another year. When was the last time a GM let a player off his contract just for "you are overperforming your rookie scale contract" purposes? No need to have been in that situation in the first place
DUDE, this is a Morey appreciation thread!! go start a I've grown to HATE Daryl Morey thread in the DISH
You are missing a bunch. Discovering and trading for Lowry. Eric Gordon and Ariza signings were good moves. Dwight Howard was a good move. Trading for Dragic was a good move. Drafting DMo was a good move. Signing Patrick Beverley Trading for Lou Williams
LOL why did we need him? He was never good ever again after he left Houston. Please stop with this. Dallas severely over paid for him and he was inury prone(unfortunately) for the rest of his career.
What??? Brooks was traded for Dragic and a first rounder. Great trade.. We just lost Yao, guarantee Les made Morey sign Lin for our Asian sponsors
True. Good points. Just the way the moves ended left a sour taste in my mouth. Anyway rant over just realised im in the wrong thread
Didn't you notice how things started shifting with Tillman in charge. Morey acted completely different than he did the previous years. It's crazy to think he would change his philosophy. Also he's the greatest cap guy in the history of the game with how he makes trades and structures contracts.
https://arizonasports.com/story/14623/phoenix-suns-acquire-aaron-brooks-for-goran-dragic/ We resigned brooks years later and he wasn't even a good player anymore so we sent him off the Hamilton. He was originally traded for Dragic.
Yea still we know Tilman Fock the team by being a cheapass and he and Harden forced Morey to trade Cp3. However let’s not forget he was the GM and responsible for the moves we did. - he was the one that gave too many picks to get Russ here even though Russ didn’t fit the system. Maybe player for player but we gave a lot and we know and knew we lost that trade. -he gave his word to Cp3 that they wouldn’t trade him a week or so before they traded him. He even said the same to Simmons this year even though they were going to move him. They even told his agent to prepare for the eminent trade. Not a man of his word. He could have stayed quiet. But publicly stated this for both instances - he kept Clemons over Hartenstein for whatever reason even though we always been short on size and needed a center. -he gave Eric Gordon the contract that we can’t move. Not only that but he gave him the extension. he gave Ryan Anderson the contract too that we couldn’t move. -he gave Melton in order to move Ryan (his own fault) and Melton is playing well and it’s developing well. -he never got us a true back up center to help Clint or even when Dwight was here and healthy. - he wanted to go small ball all in too. No 2s and messed up because when we couldn’t buy a 3. We got fixated on 3s only. he was the one that wanted Dwight here. He convinced Harden they would be a great duo without taking into account the chemistry. We all wonder about that. he wanted Bosh. We almost did he wanted Melo. And we got him years later when he didn’t fit the team. He just did it to pleased Cp3. He picked Royce White even though it was known that he didn’t like to taking flights. He listen to Parsons agent and didn’t extended him and walkout for nothing when he was FA. he picked I think Morris over Kawhi. and I’m sure I’m forgetting a lot of other moves that were dumb or wtf moments. like he talking a lot publicly about being obsessed with the warriors, about Harden being the GOAT, and so on. he always talks too much either he likes the attention or he doesn’t know when to shut up. One more thing and the last thing. He knew exactly what the consequences of his tweet would be. He isn’t that stupid not to know what was to come. We all know that the Chinese government doesn’t like being criticized at all. The Rockets had very close relationship with China and the NBA too. Ofc he knew he would get fired. And he probably did want to get fired. He made a bunch of dumb moves on his last year. He even said on an interview that he expected not to be in the NBA anymore. this not only affected the relationship with China and the Rockets but with the nba. This also affected us in games. We have always been target by the nba or refs to not give us the right calls or call our defense too tight. We know what happened against the warriors and we all saw it. And what Morey did just made it worse. Against okc and the Lakers but through out all year we got bad fouls or calls. Or no calls when we were fouled. So yea Morey did great things like getting Harden and signing Pat but he wasn’t the greatest
Nobody is saying Morey is the greatest but he is a really good GM. He also made his fair share of mistakes (passing on Kawhi when he was a no brainer for baby Melo the biggest one) but you cant deny he tried to do what it takes to win. I'm happy with Stone but I do wish Morey the best.
Who thought Kawhi was going to be baby Melo? He was the complete opposite of Melo as a rookie, and he's the complete opposite of a Melo now.
I want to slam my head against a wall repeatedly every single time I see some iteration of this comment. Will you send an email you know isn't right, if your boss demands you do it?
You can make a list like that for any NBA GM so really lists like that are ridiculous. All GM's are making calculated risks with each move. Bottom line is DM put together more than competitive teams his *entire *tenure.
