Cleveland has to get something out of it. Trading nance for expirings to get rid of expirings cant be their plan
Dipo is a rental. He most likely won’t re-sign. Drummond is expiring. They might as well hang onto him if they can’t fetch a FRP
This is only way MPJ could fit defensively next to Christian Wood IMO. Surround MPJ and Wood with long athletic versatile defenders. https://tradenba.com/trades/ZsRUnNcKi DEN: Victor Oladipo, Seth Curry, Danuel House PHI: John Wall, PJ Tucker, Ben McLemore, Mason Jones, Rodions Kurucs + Pistons FRP HOU: Ben Simmons, Michael Porter Jr, Gary Harris, Matisse Thybulle, Bol Bol, Furkan Korkmaz + 14M savings *Nuggets add better defenders in starting 5 without sacrificing scoring which should balance roster to win NOW. Jokic, Murray, Oladipo, Millsap, Barton with RJ, JAM, House, Nnaji & Harty off the bench. Dump underperforming Harris & his contract. *76ers sacrifice future to add vet starters to balance team and better complement Embiid to challenge Nets while increasing 3ball scoring and not losing on defense. Actually add more defensive depth. Also add Pistons FRP, heavy protections notwithstanding. *Rockets add size, length, defense AND get younger. No player older than 26 yrs old Gary Harris. Tilman gets another HUGE 14M savings. 6'5 Porter/6'5 Sterling/6'7 Korkmaz 6'3 EGo/6'5 Thybulle/6'5 Exum 6'10 MPJ/6'5 Nwaba/6'4 Harris 6'10 Simmons/6'4 Tate/6'6 KJ 6'10 Wood/7'2 Bol Bol/6'10 Boogie *Trade deadline options: EGo, Boogie, Exum, Harris
Except Drummond demanding a buyout if no trade. Dipo is trying to rehab his rep, Drummond doesnt care about his.
Drummond can demand all he wants. Cleveland would probably will do a buyout which would save them more money, then taking on an equal number of contracts they have to pay. In my trade proposal they still have to pay the same amount of salary to get a FRP. You are overvaluing Dipo, as most on this board are. With his salary the most you can hope to get for him is expiring junk and a late FRP or a couple of seconds. I would rather have Nance. Of course, Cleveland may not be willing to give up Nance.
Agree to disagree. But it is getting tense in Cleveland, Drummond and JA not comfortable splitting minutes anymore. Buyout is always a team's last option, for good reason.
Nuggets went from top 3 team in West to 7th. This is not helping Jokic's MVP campaign at all. Jokic is not a fan of MPJ, he wants better defenders. Nuggets have confidence in their ability to continue to find AND develop hidden or unwanted gems. But 1st priority is to win now.
No vitriol necessary. We agree on everything except which team should get FRP. But yes, key for us fans is getting Nance.
I’d love the trade with Denver and Philadelphia, but don’t think sixers will do it. Maybe something like this: https://tradenba.com/trades/w6MQ6zqvO We unload Gordan with 1st round pick for MPJ and eat Will Barton’s contract. Might need to add another pick.
How about this: https://tradenba.com/trades/ggknAjv0a Gets us MPJ, Matisse, unload Gordan. Costs us two crappy picks and 1 year of Harris contract vs 3 of Gordan’s. Denver gets their defensive SG that could be good on offense when well. Philadelphia gets Gordan for their title run.
Unfortunately he has been exposed as a mini version of Harden (iso only) Westbrook (iso only) type player. Where Harden can play PnR, Oladipo probably can’t. The team that takes him will want him to be an attack dog, go to the rim as many times as he wants. Be selfish because we have limited offensive threats. Ideally a team of mostly defenders. Many are proposing Denver. I can’t see Murray/Oladipo dueling banjos while trying to work with Jokic. Maybe they can each take turns playing iso-ball Offense. Doubt it works because as you said, Dipo is not the same attack dog he was in Indiana. He needs a ton of reps.
But how bad a contract? Tilman-Stone don’t want big money on the books because we are locked up on a John Wall contract of $44M and Eric Gordon contract of $18M. The idea is to free up money not keep adding players that don’t fit the system. If the Rockets have to keep accumulating 1st round picks to move bad contracts .......then we are just spinning our wheels Bringing in 1st round picks to move Wall.......Eric Gordon........and now the new player that was another teams trash doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Do you get tied up or hamstrung for an $18M contract next season for a first round pick? Depends on the player owning that $18M contract.......but for the most part, if that player was good, why are they pushing him on to us? I would rather have the money free to delve in free agency.
Dipo has real value, especially on defense. https://www.nba.com/stats/players/hustle-leaders/ And also has 20 PPG average. As long as he is not forced to be the primary playmaker, he is still legit 3rd option.
Probably my favorite of your trade proposals. But having Rockets send out multiple FRP is counter to Stone's goal of accumulating picks AND dumping salary.
