I think there's a double standard. It's the players who get adored by the fans. I have never heard fans cheering for the owners.

I mean... the owners purchased them
    Er...their talent

And should be able to do with them.
    Er...their talents
    Whatever they want

Bs if they liked basketball they would watch college, euroleague etc. But they dont because of hype. And dont even get me started with level of play since NBA teams coast until playoffs. I know a pot of pro players from Europe that dont watch NBA „because its circus”

These players do not understand the relationship between an employee and a business. Welcome to the corporate world folks, these guys are detached from reality and hence have no understanding how it is for the rest of society. However, they have the power to try and change it because they are the product but again good luck dealing with the corporate world, if they can win against the machine more power to them. I would not publicly complain though as the rest of cannot do anything about it and are slaves to the system.

Well, it’s in their contracts. If they don’t like it, try to change it during the next CBA negotiation.

There's a thing called no-trade clause. If you don't want to be traded without being consulted first, then negotiate it into your contract. But I suspect that most NBA players don't bother.

About a quarter of all the players are just happy to be able to make a roster, any roster.

Most of the other players are a lock for a roster spot. Their number one priority is to make as much money as they can before they retire or get a career ending injury. Their number two priority is to go to a team where they can have fun playing. Winning a championship is only the third most important thing.

Only about 10% or less of the players, the stars, who really care about their legacy in winning a chip. But they start thinking about it only after they have got their second max contract. And it's around that time that they consider using their star power to get where they want.

    Yeah, it's a business.

There is def a double standard but the counter is like what Shaq said, "I would do the same things the owners are doing because it is just business."

That's my thing too... Nobody is forced to play in the NBA or accept the CBA. The Players Association have a 50/50 split and full control of the players. He sounds stupid.

Lol this makes 0 sense. And lmao at soccer being the next big focus in the US. In the US it doesn’t even come close to popularity to any of major sports. It takes the World Cup for people to up the level of attention from minimal to somewhat significant in the US. Owners work to make it popular. Pure nonsense. The reason it’s popular is the players plain and simple. That’s who they tune in to see and follow

Same guy that kicked Steven Adams in the nuts, twice, drop kicked and try to gouge Harden's eyes twice. It's perplexing.

Daryl isn't getting paid 40M a year lol. I think he made like 6 and that's the upper end of the spectrum as far as GM salaries go.

The whole emotional aspect thing is the reason players make so much money if people weren't invested in the team and the player then they wouldn't buy expensive tickets I mean how many are gonna buy front court seats to watch Daryl Morey do analytics? Maybe some geeks but not a lot. You know who paid Morey a lot of money and treated him like a traitor when he left though? Tilman Fertita. Crazy how the dude who is paying for you is the one who is emotionally invested in you right?

As for Draymond's rant he is right and wrong. He is right in that there is a double standard and he is wrong because the world is an unfair place to begin with. Employees don't have equal rights with their bosses the CEO can spend half the day playing golf and still pocket millions in bonuses while the Junior Analyst gets docked on his minimum pay every minute he is late.

Then if a player openly demands a trade because the team sucks, it's fair game?

Are teams still penalized for holding out healthy players in nationally televised games? Wouldn't these teams sitting players for "trade reasons" be fined if they had nationally televised games?

Blame the media, you stick a mic in front of a player, singer, actor, and ask them about anything, they will offer their opinions no matter how ignorant they may be on the subject, They will give you something to write/broadcast about, and “good interviewers" will give you controversy as well, so that you can draw more clicks and views. But yeah, they are all spoiled and especially those big mouths.

It's literally written into their contracts. It's what they signed up for.

It's in their contract they can or can't demand trades? Also the media perception of the player takes a hit as if teams don't openly make guys available

Yep. They keep it up, they'll find that pot of gold shrinking, and then what will they have?
