With Watt's release, Deshaun is the only face of the franchise left. Cal/Easterby would cream at the thought of replacing Deshaun as the face of the franchise with a white guy named Christian. "We really like Christian McCaffrey, he's a cultural fit Brian" -Cal
If you follow sports Twitter mixed in with these rumors of trades there’s lot of articles now from PFF and the like about how awesome Watsons season was. I even saw a tweet with video I think Shannon sharpe was in asking if it is one of the best QB seasons of the last 20 years.... And I’m like.... wtf? Yes, dude is a dominant QB right now. But why this strong campaign all of a sudden from media about how amazing he is??? there is some agenda being pushed and whoever is pushing is doing it very effectively.
If Caserio learned ANYTHING in his 20+ years of being a Belichick understudy- there is no way you accept a package with an overpaid RB as a headliner in a deal for one of the TOP assets in the league. When it comes to building a complete 53 man roster, overpaid running backs just dont work out and handicap a team in too many other areas. Caserio knows this. If he decides to take on ANY players in a Deshaun deal, they need to be young, defensive starters and multiple draft picks. This isn’t a fantasy football trade. Don’t get me wrong, McCaffrey is a dynamic talent and is undoubtedly fun to watch....but he and his contract aren’t a good fit for what this team needs if Deshaun is traded.
Well this "agenda" knew the future because they have been talking about the kind of season he is having since before the season ended. Way before he requested a trade. I follow PFF and I saw a lot of numbers comparing him to only Patrick Mahommes. This isn't bias, he had a really really good season statistically. It just didn't turn into wins.
Honestly not really all that impressed with that package. I don't want a running back on a big deal for a team rebuilding like the Texans. They can keep CM and give up 4 #1's and 4 #2's and 2 #3's for Watson and the Texans can take on the last year of Bridgewater's contract. The Panthers get their franchise QB to pair with their star RB and to keep all their position players. The Texans get to control the top of the Panthers next four drafts. Even then, honestly not sure that is enough to make up for Watson but at least it gives Caserio and the God Squad a chance to rebuild the organization. They should then move Tunsil for a #1 and plan on getting some high draft picks the next couple of years..... Hopefully the Texans brain trust would be smart with 20-22 picks in the top three rounds over the next 4 years..... completely rebuild the offensive and defensive lines in the draft and hope they can get a good QB with either the Panthers pick this year, or their own top picks the next few years that should be top 5 picks.
Houston sports are really going to try to collect all the "Christian" players in the sport. Christian Wood Christian McCaffery
Future Texans list https://www.nfl.com/players/active/all?query=christian We will be bringing back Christian Ponder to be QB
I’m surprised the Texans didn’t try and sneak one by everyone by trading Watson during the power outage.
Read an article yesterday from Denver thinking they may be in the hunt by offering us Drew Lock and a couple first rounders. It’s amazing the variance in what some people think Watson will fetch. Obviously Lock and a couple first rounders would get laughed right out of the building, you would hope, but I’m worried our idiots will give him away for something similar. It’s just impossible to know with this bunch.
