because this is the winning franchise... the thought of tanking doesnt even cross their minds i remmeber when almost the entire league tanked for years! except rockets, because the defeatists thought its over for the league when durant signed for warriors so glad harden left this fanbase of pathetic losers who d lay their weapons on the first sign of defeat
Yeah, very unlikely you get a Hakeem level player in any draft. Even if there is a "generational" center prospect. Hakeem was one of a kind in terms of talent and production. Yao was also uniquely talented, but I think his production was comparable to a standard perennial all star. Cunningham, Kuminga, Green, Mobley and Suggs seem to be the agreed upon top 5 prospects at the moment, and many are saying this is the strongest top 5 in recent years. The top 3 (Cunningham, Kuminga, Green) are notable because fit the wing creator/initiator archetype that is so effective and pervasive in the modern NBA. If there's a draft for the Rockets to invoke their draft luck, it's this one (or the one Emoni Bates is in).
The problem with this type of false pride is when we don't win. Other teams want to win too, they're not tanking because they like armored vehicles. Someone like Dream being available is of course rare, but almost every year there is a Jayson Tatum or a Herro or a Luka (and none were overall #1's). However, you usually need a good draft position to get them. Years down the road they'll be still be talking about who won the Chip, not which team didn't tank.
Drafts are very difficult to predict. Every year there are hypes about some players, including John Wall in 2010. Some live up to the hype. Some don't. Many people sneered at Yao's pick in 2002. He turned out to be better than a lot of people had thought, BUT he also had a short productive career due to injuries. The number 2 pick Jay Williams was widely thought to be a better prospect than Yao. We all know how he ended up. There's a lot of luck involved.
hello there coach neither tatum nor luka nor herro won anything...so even if you were losing on purpose to get them you still didnt win on the other hand draymond green got promoted by a clueless rookie coach into the starting lineup and created the greatest dynasty
Because 22 year old and younger blue chip prospects haven't won anything and Draymond has is your argument? Wasn't Steph a high lottery pick?
You use the c and h in his name (Chet) like put back slam champ chandler parsons doesn’t even exist. Shame
Would love to see what Stone can do with a quality lottery pick. Morey has blown or traded away everything for nothing apart from Capela.
Thunder are losing, Rockets are terrible and the Heat look completely broken. Things are looking up (down).

“They end up in NBA purgatory, the place for teams that are too good to be bad and not good enough to be great.” words found in this article ring true. https://www.bulletsforever.com/2019/1/19/18186309/washington-wizards-ted-leonsis-never-tanking
True, but I’m guessing the idea is you have to give draft picks some time to prove themselves. Hard to make an all star team in your first 5 years unless you are really high end.
