I like your optimism, but Drummond isn’t coming here to lose by 20 points every night.

But the more important point is to not be buyers and surrender draft capital for a half season rental in the midst of a rebuild. Losing sucks but this is a marathon. Not a sprint.

He's young and has career averages of 45% FG and 36% 3PT with a much better contract and has much better trade value than Gordon. Much better than a rotting Eric Gordon and his bloated contract egg Morey laid. No one will take a glass Eric Gordon at his $22 million in 2022-2023.

Eric Gordon is still 6MOY candidate and is Rockets best perimeter defender and iso scorer.

Gary Harris will never be that.

EG is a much better two-way player than Harris or Barton. I’ve always had the sneaking suspicion Denver is a low key suitor for EG for this very reason.

All those fancy titles are cute but what does he really bring to the team that would benefit the team in the near future? How does he positively impact the team currently that is tangible and irreplaceable?

I love Eric Gordon ever since his 2008 draft and I was ecstatic when we managed to snag him in Free Agency.

But he's past his use-by date along with Harden and Morey also renumerated him a CP3 wink-wink company welfare/make-up contract for the below-market pay he signed and received while we were dueling with the Warriors during that era. He's had his time in HOU.

He's also injury-prone and streaky as a scorer. No rebuilding team would want anywhere near him and a contender won't part with more than a few second rounders for him.

If we can get back a 26 year old with offensive upside I'd do that every time.

You don’t trade a good player for a bad player just because he is younger. Gary Harris sucks. He’s on a bad contract. Denver needs to cough up an asset to get Eric Gordon and then they need to cough up another asset to move off of Harris’s contract

Eric Gordon's contract is HORRIBLE. Gary Harris saves us a year from that.

Man.. so conflicted on this. I think people undervalue Harris, his scoring is in a slump but he is arguably a better guard defender than either EGO or Dipo, he's younger than both and has a shorter contract than Gordon too.

Is he what the team needs? Probably not. But say if Dipo (along with other bits and pieces) could get us back a consistent 20ppg starter (preferably a PF), then swapping out Gordon for Harris becomes an interesting idea.

On the other hand. I'm loving Gordon this year, and think when this team is healthy (whenever that may be) and a few pieces have been moved, he will be vital in helping us at least get a better record than Miami and OKC haha (Wether that means we make it to the playoffs or not)

Why not? It'll help with the tank and it will free up max cap space a year earlier.

I don't think Gordon really moves the needle for us anymore than Harris would. We are not making the playoffs. Dipo is as good as gone at the end of the season and is playing horribly so has no trade value that is more than a 2nd rounder + empty salary.

If Harris is playing well then there's no way Denver would trade him for anything less than a quality starter on a good salary.

Why not take a flyer on a starter SG and shave $22 million off the books?

Love it. Was thinking of it too. But no way Detroit does that unless we give them back their pick. Still I'd do it.

Wall & Griffin are just empty stats but it saves 40 million off the books. That's incredibly hard to achieve.

We are not making the playoffs regardless.

Plus Blake is just unmotivated in Detroit so he'll be a lot more tradeable playing in Houston.

Rockets have to stop giving away better players just to reduce salary. Not to mention Rockets acquiring YET ANOTHER injured player????

Gary Harris has not played since New Year's Eve due to a nagging abductor strain. He is out at least the next few games.

And Gary Harris is 26 but he is nowhere near the player EGo is, was or ever will be.

EGo is averaging almost double the points this season than GHarris.

EGo leads the HOUnds 2nd unit. His defensive communication in the front court is critical to their perimeter defensive efficiency.

EGo is shooting 35% from 3P vs. Harris' 33%.

EGo also has a 61% TS vs. Harris' 55% TS.

Nuggets better be attaching AT THE VERY LEAST a FRP for us to take frickin Gary Harris.

Everything you said is valid but we are 2nd to last in the West and no amount of defensive communication and coordination will bring us anywhere lol

EGO is only getting older and you don't know how well his body will hold up going forward, especially given his injury history.

Time to build towards the future while getting a good player with upside and cutting salary.

Don’t be greedy. All it would take is Denver attaching their 2021 lottery protected FRP to Harris and I’d happily hand over Gordon.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves and act like Gordon is 29. He’s 32 and one nagging injury away from going into a slump. This will probably be his last good year.

Look, I have PTSD too from giving away players like Marcus Morris, Montrezz Harrell, Robert Covington, etc. Just to see them shine elsewhere.

But Eric Gordon is 32. His best days are behind him. Let’s not act like he wasn’t one of the worst contracts in the NBA just a couple months ago.
