Look, the nba is a business first. While it's in the leagues interest that the NYC and LA markets have winners, it doesn't make sense for them to write off the Chicagos, houstons or Dallas. It wouldn't surprise me if the league office rewarded the rockets with a top 4 pick after they sent harden to Brooklyn.
What’s all this talk about Texas teams competing or not competing? Spurs have won 4 in a row and sitting as 6th seed......1/2 game back of Portland and 1.5 back of Suns for 4th seed. Doing better now that LMA is out. Mavs just got Porzingis back and will be in top 8 before you know it. Currently 9th and 1 game back of Warriors for 8th seed.
From your lips to God's ears. Er, from your keyboard to Archangel Gabriel's Inbox, thence to God: "Lord, how about this?" "I don't know. I don't like that Fertitta, he's a jackass. A tightwad who overcharges for small portions of mediocre food. That's a sin."
That, and more Boogie! There's no better way to lose a basketball game in the NBA right now than giving Boogie as many attempts around the basket as possible. Their offensive strategy moving forward should be 35+ minutes a night of operating their offense through Boogie in the low post. How many FGA can he miss in a game? Let's find out!
Wizards are whipping the Celtics right now. Tomorrow is shaping up to be huge! You can't beat washington on President's day. Time to start Rodion! Rest up for the week.
The League Rewarded the Golden State Warriors with the 2nd Pick in the Draft. The League wants the Warriors to Contend again and be in the Playoffs. Stephen Curry does bring in Ratings. I think Girls buy Stephen Curry Jerseys the Most. Really at every Road Game, Girls are wearing his Jersey.
Yup, considering the league blocks and allows trades all the time this has to be a concession to the Rockets. It would be good to have China’s former team get a decent player. Maybe we can revive that following. Hasn’t been the same since that Morey tweet.
Have the Celtics regressed? I know Brown has knee tendinitis and Smart has been out, but their season has been pretty mediocre so far. Too bad they don't need / won't take Oladipo. Tucker perhaps.
This team needs to quit fooling itself... they’re not gonna be able to win squat with hurt players. They need to shut down and go full tank. Call up KPJr. and give him the ball. Who’s gonna want a hurt ass Oladipo? He’s basically almost untradeable at the moment. Doing more hurt than good trying to win games without a full squad.
I am trying to think, we own a pick in 2021 draft regardless right? it's either going to be us or Miami's. So really with Miami not doing too hot we should be in a good position (hopefully lottery) whether we tank or not tank?
There’s a big difference being in the lottery and being in the top four....The top of this draft is nuts
http://www.tankathon.com/ Rockets right now with the seventh worst record. Huge advantage to us if we can drop another spot. 20% -> 37% to wind up in the top 4. If we can manage to drop two spots, we get an additional 5% 37 - 42, and then 5% more every drop to 52%
Even if you can’t land a top 4 pick this draft has some good players throughout the lottery. Guys like Bouknight, Keon Johnson, Garuba, Kai, Butler are not bad pickups.
Wouldn't be surprised if that's what happened to the Pelicans when they got AD for trading CP3 to the Clippers. I think they had to veto the Lakers trade cause that would've made them too mediocre to magically win the lottery.
Exactly, you would forever lose the faith of the team and morale would be ****. I think most Rockets fans right now are still in denial. We got Dipo and I assumed he was going to be immediately shipped again and they just couldn't get the package they wanted when they moved off Levert. Instead the team has a fake winning percentage and never accept that we lost our star. How much happier would the fanbase be if we could move these other players, get quality assets back, and begin focusing on the future and watch our growing young players. Focusing on the draft, young players in FA, and potential trades to upgrade instead of always looking backwards.
So we tank and the worst we get is the pick we would have gotten not tanking and the younger players get more playing time rather than veterans that will not even be on the team by the time it is good. Right now the Rockets are the 8th worst record in the NBA, even at #8 they have a 21% chance of keeping their pick and getting a top 4 pick in the draft. The same is true for the Heat as well at #11..... Simply moving up one spot improves the chance of a top 4 pick up to 38% Everyone is so concerned about losing the lottery pick, that they are not considering that even being outside of the top 3-4 worst records, but in that 5-7 territory gives you better than a 1-3 chance of getting a top 4 pick. Not only a 1/3 or better shot of a top 4 pick, but almost as good a shot at the #1 or #2 pick as anyone. Also, if the Rockets lose their pick, they get the Heat pick. If they don't make a drastic improvement, that pick is likely in the late teens.
It is more complicated than that, but most likely the worst outcome for the Rockets is that they get the Heat pick that will be in the late teens to maybe maybe #20. The best bet is that the Rockets end up with the 5th-7th worst record and have about a 40% chance of a top 4 pick, and about about a 15-20% chance of a top 2 pick in the draft.
Right........ so if the Rockets get a top 4 pick, they would be looking at guys like Evan Mobley, Cade Cunningham, Jalen Green, Jonathan Kuminga and Jalen Suggs. If the Rockets end up with the Heat pick in the 17-20 range, they are looking at guys like: Bouknight, Garuba.... maybe Kispert.... or Johnson from Tennessee and maybe a Greg Brown of BJ Boston if he comes out.
