    Bingo. Nailed it.

History is not going to be kind to Trump, the GOP, and Trump supporters.

While watching the Rockets over the last decade, I have said...

    break him
    be strong
    never give up
    go through the defense
I don’t want to wish injury to anyone but if there is one person...
and some words I can’t repeat here

I want to apologize for my role in inciting the mob violence against the Capital on Jan 6th. So shameful.

I don't remember false equivalencies being so main stream before Trump's tenure.

Anyone paying attention to the last 4 years knows that Trump has been building this radical sentiment to make Jan 6 happen. But because of the political process, presenting the full case would have been very laborious. And, with the outcome pre-ordained, there is little justification for investing the work. So the prosecution took the shortcut and tried to ascribe all the incitement work that Trump has done over 4 years to this one speech and a few tweets. So, it isn't too hard for the defense to counter. Trump is still guilty, but the prosecution wasn't an honest argument.

I think the big takeaway from this impeachment, and the last one, and watching congressional republicans quail before Trump for the last 4 years is that Congress is not an effective check on executive power. We built the system wrong.

LOL you think putting 4 years worth of evidence will suddenly sway the trump loyalists? they were all a big part of those 4 years

In the absence of any legitimate or factual response, trump and his supporters have to resort to false equivalencies.

Tuberville has managed to rocket to my least trustworthy politician in record time. SO many just plain bold-faced lies, so little time in office.

Tuberville vs Trump would make a great game show. Have both of them tell you something that contradicts what the other said, and you have to figure out which, if either, is telling the truth.

And why do you think Jan 6 happened? Was it just spontaneously a bunch of people getting together and just acting out?

If Trump had just accepted the results of the election after he had exhausted his legal remedies do you think that Jan. 6th would’ve happened?

I do not think it was spontaneous which is what the impeachment is about. His speech did not incite those folks to storm the capital.

I missed most of the defense hearing but from what little I heard the strongest argument was that the House Managers left out the part where he says “peacefully”. The problem with that is while yes Trump said that a couple of times that has to be weighed against the multiple times he called out for violence. Included directly at his rallies when people where being attacked.

Otherwise the whataboutism of what Democrat politicians say and the First Amendment don’t counter the argument Lieu made that the President isn’t like anyone else and has a special duty. For that matter if a group of Democrats had stormed the Capitol trying to overturn an election where a Democrat had lost that Democrat should be impeached also.

Remind me when a bunch of Democrats stormed the Capitol following Hillary Clinton’s loss..

How about your motivations? This impeachment is probably more for you then for me. Do you think it’s wise to allow Joe Biden if he loses the election in 2024 to have a January 2025 exception where he can attempt to overturn the election and if he’s not successful there’s no consequence?

Do you want that to become the norm? Because if the Senate acquits it will be perfectly acceptable for Joe Biden to do exactly what Trump did if he loses the election.

Is that what you want? What if Biden is successful in delaying the electoral college certification and is able to get the House to vote to make him president again for 2024 to 2028??? Because that’s exactly what you are saying is okay by allowing Trump to be acquitted. The Congress is constitutionally called to rule on this exact type of executive branch power.

So it’s not about me. I don’t want Joe Biden or AOC if she runs to have that type of exception. That’s why I support the impeachment.

Oh look a 64 page thread to debate about something that requires zero debate.

What's next? Does gravity exist? Is the sky blue most of the time? Are boobies fun?

Don't be too disingenuous here. That's not how it works.

Trump wasn't gonna say, "Let's go f*** some s*** up." But that's what it was all about.

But, yeah, I'm sure all those "patriots" were there by accident and "never take back your country with weakness" meant, to them, to invite Nancy Pelosi to a game of dominoes or backgammon.

Wow... a Hillary Clinton argument. Yea, ridiculous, but lets play along...

    (1) trump was in office when he was impeached.
    (2) sure, go ahead and impeach her. She was right.
