They could have tried to trade him to his preferred destination -- I suspect this release comes with the caveat that Watt not share the internal dysfunction of the team.

Maybe he goes to the Bears. Kealia plays for the Chicago Red Stars...

Chicago is just a 3hr drive away from Green Bay and an even shorter flight. I think he'd want to play for an organization without a son messing things up at the top of the organization as well as play for a team with an established future HOFer at QB.

This is a good move all around.
Surprised there is so much debate about it.
    Good on the Texans.
    Good for JJ.

It has nothing to do with the DW situation, which is completely different and not apple to apples.

Texans could have payed half of JJs salary like they did with Clowney.

I'd be stunned if he signed anywhere other than Pitt, GB, TB or KC in that order.

    Agreed.
For me it's GB and KC in the first tier tho.
Pitt- Cap space being the issue, would he take a really team friendly deal to play there?
TB- Do they even need him? The rich getting richer.

Football is funny. Luck tends to be a big part of big games at times. Deshaun throwing darts and hitting guys in stride for TDs was no fluke. Blocking a punt happens. KC fumbling happens. Bottom line OBrien sht that game away with bad decisions and taking his foot off the gas. RAC didnt help at all, but that should have been a big enough margin to win and losing should have been enough reason to fire everybody.

I think he would absolutely take a team friendly deal to go to Pittsburgh.

    Completely different scenario.

Watt handled himself the right way, as a professional.

Watt didn't just sign a new contract 4 months ago.

Watt has been the face of the franchise through good times and bad without ever disgracing himself.

Watt did this at a time where a release was possible without crippling the team's cap.

Really all I can say in regards to this. I don't know if I'll post anything in this thread again.

Watt. A true class act. We didn't deserve his time here... With this organization. The move was a class move back to Watt. But how quickly this city turned into a destination no player wants to be in.

I'm indifferent to the Steelers and GB. So if he goes there.... I'll most likely follow them next season. Almost 20 years of being a fan... To losing the passion in two short years...

That's not the right question anyway - the better question is who wants to waste that caproom on him when they could sign him cheaper as a free agent AND not have to give up any picks?

What are you getting for a guy making that much money who played all year and had 5 sacks?
